The patties were full of flavor but didn't taste like breakfast sausage at all but I was looking for breakfast sausage patties and these just weren't it. I'll have to continue my search....

I love these sausage patties! We've made these a few times. I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of flavor they have. Pork is generally very bland, but the seasonings used here really spice things up! Great for breakfast...or any other meal!

I didn't have buttermilk so I substituted milk and lemon juice; also used fresh sage (1 generous tbsp finely chopped) as I had it on hand. I'm not sure that the cheese gave any extra flavor, so maybe next time I will use sharp cheddar. I mixed all the ingredients then left it in the fridge for a couple hours before I shaped and fried them. My hubby and I both thought these were delicious, and I will definitely make them again.

This is a good recipe- I like that "what is it" flavor the cheese and buttermilk give to this but I think it will be better for casseroles. It's OK as a stand on it's own sausage but not my first recipe choice.
