LOVED this recipe! and I grew up on cooked Jello pudding in the 80's... This version is easy, silky, and less sweet, so much better! I made chocolate with 1/4c. of cocoa, I'm a dark or don't bother chocolate fanatic. I will definitely make again!

SO delicious! I haven't eaten pudding in years because of the chemical taste of the boxed stuff. This was easy to make and pure heaven. I made vanilla, but could see this working well with any flavoring. To the person who asked about the eggs try this: beat the egg in a bowl, when the liquid is hot, take one ladle of the mix and add it into the eggs, stirring rapidly with the other hand as you pour. I added 3 ladle-fulls (rather quickly) and it turned out very nicely. Good luck!

I love not having to rely on having a store-bought box! My husband loves pudding and this has become an easy thing for me to do for him. Love this!

Great recipe! I didn't have any powdered milk, and substituted with non-dairy coffee creamer. Fabulous! I made my own chocolate pudding mix by adding 1 cup of cocoa. It has a bold chocolate flavor. Some might prefer a milder 3/4 cup, and using dutched cocoa would probably yield a mellower chocolate. I have been completely disappointed in boxed puddings of late. Either my taste buds have changed or the formula has changed. It's just not the same stuff I remember as a kid. This recipe brings it all back. Thanks!

This is so delicious! We aren't really pudding people, but this is so decadent that I think we might be changing our mind!

I'm a huge fan of make-ahead mixes, and have been craving pudding a lot lately. This is perfect! I went ahead and divided the mix into ziplocks and wrote instructions on each bag with a sharpie. It made about 3 1/2 batches. I just used the last half of a batch to try it out (halving the rest of the recipe as well) and it was very good! Although I'm a HUGE chocolate fan, there's just something I love about vanilla pudding, so I didn't add any cocoa. Also, I read all the reviews and noticed many had problems with the egg - so I beat the egg in a separate container and mixed a small amount of the pudding to it before putting it in the saucepan and that seemed to work good. Thank you so much for this recipe!

I made the chocolate version of this and I didn't find that this was sweet enough for my liking. I think I'd add another cup of sugar to the mix next time. But otherwise I love having a recipe for ready-to-go cook and serve pudding!

This was quick, easy and yummy. I did end up with a few cooked bits of egg, so I'll be more careful about that in the future, but the flavor of the pudding more than made up for it!
