Grandma Jackie's Pickled Beets

Beets are pickled in a sweet brine with a hint of cloves. This recipe is close to my own grandmothers recipe. I think she would be proud of me as I do not have her original recipe. 

Crisp Pickled Green Beans

This recipe is from my Grandmother's cookbook she made to pass to all her grandchildren. They come out very, very crisp with a wonderful dill flavor. The red pepper flakes give them a nice punch. They are much better than the recipes that call for cooking the beans first.

Sweet pickled black walnuts take three weeks to make but they last for ages. Pick the walnuts in summer before the hard nut forms inside the green shell.
