Rea;ly liked this! I made it in my cuisinart electric ice cream machine, and was very pleased with it. I did not add the condensed milk, and used whole milk+3/4 cup. It was just perfect. I highly recommend natural vs. imitation vanilla extract in this because you WILL be able to tell the difference, and I think it would make or break the recipe. Some things you can't taste the vanilla directly, but in this, it comes through, so spend a little extra for it. We will definaltely make again!

Agreed! I was looking for a recipe that did not use heavy cream so this one caught my eye. I used whole milk and omitted the condensed milk. I used 1 cup sugar. Perfect! Lovely custard taste. Yum!

This recipe was really nice it had the nice ice cream taste I wanted. I was rather sweet though I think not so much sugar and not as much condensed milk. But overall it was lovely. I really enjoyed it was the perfect thing for a hot day.

I made up this recipe on the quest for SMOOTH and CREAMY homemade icecream. I think it may have turned out good with the sweetened condensed milk omitted...it seemed to give it a slimy texture and was a little overly sweet. I'm going to have to try it again because it did have that creamy potential I was looking for.
