DIRECTIONS
Dissolve yeast in water. Add milk, sugar, salt, eggs, butter and 3-1/2 cups flour; mix well. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. On a floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in greased bowl; turn once to grease top. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled, 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Punch down. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 30 minutes. Divide into six portions. On a floured surface, shape each into a 14-in.-long rope. For each loaf, braid three ropes together on greased baking sheet; pinch ends to seal. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 50 to 60 minutes. Beat egg yolk and water; brush over loaves. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30-35 minutes.

I made this bread for christmas dinner, my family was amazed (apparently they didnt think i was capable of cooking/baking) anyway have made this 3 times since and 2 of which where a complete success, the 3rd time I accidentally added salt instead of sugar and mucked up the whole thing. No worries though! I will try again.

Very good and pretty too! I was surprised at how easy this was. I always thought something this pretty had to be difficult, but this wasn't. Beware, though. This is a time consumer. I misread the recipe and didn't notice that there were 3 rising times. We didn't get to bed until about an hour after we usually do. Oh well. It was very tasty

this bread was pretty good, but not a big hit. it didn't taste very egg-y. also it took a combined time of 3 hours to rise. so its NOT a 55 minute recipie. if you make this plan a head

A fabulous bread to make. A bit long on the process but that makes it good. I put my bread in the oven to rise every time and when I needed to turn the oven on to bake I took it out, it looked perfect but by the time the oven was ready the bread fell. It is still delicious but would be lighter and fluffier had I left it in the oven for the preheat. It's a keeper.

Great bread and easy to make. The flavor reminded me a bit of the German Pretzel Bread (Laugenstange). I was to lazy to throw the bread in the oven so I made it completely in the bread machine.
