I kept the ingredients the same, but changed up the method a little. I pureed the beans in the blender (MagicBullet, actually) with the eggs and finely chopped the onion and green pepper, and used garlic powder instead of fresh (about 1/2 teaspoon). I baked them in the oven as directed. My family -- including three picky kids and a picky husband -- LOVED them! My husband, who is a self-proclaimed veggie-burger-hater said they were better than beef. In fact, he heated up a leftover one tonight after having a "REAL" beef burger and said that the black bean burger was better BY FAR!!! I will absolutely use this recipe again and again! THANK YOU!!!

I added some cheddar cheese, microwaved to set the egg then wrapped it in a tortilla then I toasted it all in a frying pan. I heeded the previous post that said to strain the veggies and dry the beans and the texture was great.

These were tasty, but a little dry. I think next time I will serve with lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. Maybe even some salsa.

These are fantastic! I'm the only vegan in my house and I have been looking for a recipe for "burger night". This is it. I love it! I put them in the freezer and even cook one now and again to crumble into a taco salad. YUM!

Very yummy! I made them for my DH's mom, and she loved them! We don't have a grill, but I baked them in the oven for 22 minutes at 375 degrees: 10 minutes on one side, then 12 on the other. I'll be making these for my own mom next! Thanks for a great recipe.

YUM! I can't stand the taste of the processed veggie burgers found in the supermarket. These are out of this world. Froze the patties and took them camping. Cooked perfectly over the charcoal grill. Thank you!

Amazing!! I used a jalapeno instead of a bell pepper and used ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs. Following the advice of another review, I also used two eggs and squuezed the liquid out of the processor mix. Topped with sour cream ,cilantro and salsa, they were just wonderful!!

These tasted good. I think the trick is to not over process your veggies. You just want them finely chopped not pureed (I did mine a little to long). I also froze them before cooking which helped keep them together.

These burgers are very tasty, especially with tomatoes, cheese, and mushrooms! I substituted kidney beans for the black beans, and they still tasted great. My only problem was that they were a little too wet before they were cooked, which made it a bit difficult to make the mixture into burgers (even though I thoroughly dried the beans after rinsing and added extra breadcrumbs).

These were super good! Really really pleased with how they turned out. Very flavorful and filling, leave you satisfied. I put them on toasted whole wheat buns. I followed the advice of "Kelly" who left a review on how to keep the burgers from falling apart, and they came out perfect. So definitely do what she suggests because you won't regret it! :-)Great recipe!

quicke and easy to make. This recipe is versitile. Add what spices you like I added some cilantro and garlic too. It was great. Better than store bought. But I did mix everything up in the food processor. I think next time I will mash the beans as directed. The texture was a little off because I didn't follow the original directions.

This is the first recipe I've encountered on this site that has been raved about that not only I didn't love, but actually I disliked. My brother disliked them, too. The only way we could finish eating them was by putting a slice a cheese and a couple slice of pickles to distract our taste buds from the burgers themselves. Needless to say, I won't ever be making these again.

These are fantastic. Never made any type of black bean burger before and I am in love. They held together perfect, I took the advice of another reviewer and dried the beans, and strained the liquid from the onion/green pepper mixture best I could. I didn't have to freeze them. My only substitution/change was 3/4 tsp garlic powder in stead of fresh garlic. ps - and they really are superb with ancho chipotle ranch! (I used T. Marzetti's low fat version found in the produce section) Enjoy!

Wonderful! We baked them and added Heinz chili sauce on top where they were finished. The garlic was a little strong so next time we'll probably saute' the garlic or chop it a little finer. Still yummy, though!

These are very good and they are easy to grill. I made sure to keep adding bread crumbs until they were nice and solid. I also took the advice of others and drained out any liquid from the beans and vegies.

Excellent veggie burgers. I followed the reviews and made sure the beans and chopped veggies were really dry before I mixed them. I also dry sauted the veggies and garlic a bit before mixing them in. I like thin burgers so I got five nice big ones from this recipe. Really, really delicious. Much better than Morningstar Burgers and a lot less expensive! These are on my regulars list.

This was a good alternative to hamburgers. I decreased all the spices for the kidlets but next time I might just use all the spices. Served it with cheese and mayo/mustard/ketchup. Husband even ate 2 of them.
