this made a delicious, moist burger. i used a whole orange bell pepper and used a full cup of bread crumbs. i will go thru the reviews and try some other reviewers suggestions as i enjoy the versatility available with this recipe. it is good as is though (with the extra bread crumbs in my opinion) my six year old formed the patties and we grilled them, had them on multigrain bread with avocado and mayo. delicious!

Delicious! I didn't have green peppers so I used grated carrot instead. I'll definitely make these again and I'll just use whatever veggies I have on hand. I made the patties and then refrigerated them for 1/2 an hour and that made them even more solid. I baked them and had no issues with them falling apart. Great recipe!

This was DELICIOUS!!! I only used 1/4 of an onion, though, and instead of going through a food processor I just chopped everything pretty small. I also made my own bread crumbs from toasted bread. That helped cut down on the calories (I used that 45 calorie Sarah Lee bread). I also used Egg Beaters instead of an egg, and used skim milk. I used Bush's Black Beans with reduced sodium also. This cut my calories down to around 120 per burger!! I'm playing with the idea of vegetarianism just for health's sake, and this recipe is really making that transition a smooth one! I think I preferred it over meat burgers!! Thanks for this recipe!!!

This was fantastic. The only thing I changed was substituting egg replacer for the egg to make it vegan. Can't wait to eat the leftovers!

This was my fist attempt at making veggie burgers, and these were excellent! I always read the other reviews before making something, and i made sure my beans were rinsed and dried them on a paper towel, also removed most of the liquids from the onion, pepper, and garlic mixture. I doubled the recipe so i used 1 egg and 2 egg whites. Also sprinkled in a little corn. Popped them on the good 'ole George Forman Grill and we were good to go! I thought they were WAY better than the storebrands pre-made patty's!! Very good, thanks for the recipe!

If you like black beans then you'll love these burgers. My only complaint is that they don't stick together very well. I even added an extra egg and chilled them in the fridge for a few hours before grilling. Next time I'll stick them in the freezer.

These veggie burgers were great! I had never made any before since I thought they were a lot of work but this recipe proved me wrong! I threw the veggies in a mini chopper to make them small and mashed the beans with the potato masher. It was easy and the burgers stayed fairly well together. They also froze easily after I individually wrapped them in plastic wrap. Next time I would break them into 6 portions since each burger was so large with 4.

Well I ended up with black bean mush instead of burgers. I think my mistake was mixing the recipe with tips from other reviewers. Otherwise the taste was good and i liked the idea. While BBQ-ing, the burgers just fell apart but I cooked it anyways and put in into a pita which made a really yummy sandwhich.

These are delicious! I make extra and freeze the patties for when I don't have time to cook, and it has worked out well so far. Thanks for a great recipe!

I was very skeptical in making these. I did cut back on the spices. Only used 1 t of cumin and chili powder and it was plenty. Made 6, we like a thinner burger but on a roll, with lettuce, tomato and onion....couldn't tell much of a difference. Nice low calorie option.

I will add some more spices next time because I personally enjoy spicy food and I did adjust the amount of bread crumbs to make the burgers hold better. Otherwise it was great!

These were really good, however we all agreed, if you make 4 patties they are too thick and over powering. This amount should make at least 6. Smaller patties the next day were far better. We'll probably alter the spice eliminating the cumin and replacing it with something else. My son said it tasted too much like chili. My husband thought the "earthy" flavor of cumin didn't match the concept of "burger". The patties stored well for later use, so this is a nice quick, easy patty to make and keep on hand for fast dinners or lunches.

If I could give these 10 stars I would. I'm making a double batch tomorrow to freeze. I strongly suggest following Kelly's tips for keeping the burgers from falling apart!

These are the best black bean burgers. They are easy to make and they taste much better than the frozen ones at the store. I love making them for my vegetarian friends. Everyone loves them! Thank you for the recipe. :)

so excellent! I always add a good amount of hot sauce so then I really don't need any ketchup or even cheese like for a regular burger--it's got enough going on already! will be making these forever!

Wow! These are delicious! I followed the ingredients exactly and my burgers didn't fall apart at all. However, I did saute the green pepper and onion in 1tbsp of olive oil, prior to mixing with the bean mixture. I also pan-fried the burgers with a light spary of olive oil, instead of baking. YUM! These are definitely a new favorite in my recipe box.

Thanks for the recipe. In recent months I have had a hard time finding the store bought frozen version at my local supermarket. I delightfully found your recipe. It is even better as others stated. We now no longer have to search or over pay for a healthy veggie black bean burger! One can also change veggies based on what is on hand thanks
