This was my first time making homemade au gratins and they were great my husband gave a thumbs up with a smile. Thankyou for such an easy recipe that works.

Really good but I modified it a bit - cut it down to 4 servings, added 3 cloves of garlic with the onion and put a handful of asiago and cheddar cheese between the potato layers and on top. I think it can also use more pepper but we tend to like things peppery. I used whole milk and was pleased with how creamy it turned out.

Just sprinkle some parsley on top and this dish is truly great. To speed up the cooking time, just parboil the sliced potatoes for a few minutes, drain them, and layer them in the pan with the white sauce or cheese sauce.

Good old fashioned recipe--just the kind I was looking for. After it sets about 5 minutes from oven, no longer soupy. Would be good with cubed ham pieces in it for a variation.

Excellent! Finally, scalloped potatoes with flavour (although i did add a good dose of seasoning salt and cheese) Otherwise cooked as per recipe. They took forever to cook though (90 mins +)and i had cut my slices close to paper-thin too. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. Really delicious, and i will use from now on!!

These potatoes were very yummy! I added shredded cheddar for the last 15 minutes of baking and they turned out perfect. They would have been good without the cheese but I just always have to add something extra.

These were pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but it did the trick (and didn't require any fancy ingredients). Could have used a little more salt. I also found that I baked this closer to 90 minutes. For a dash more flavour, I sprinkled some parmesan cheese on each layer.

I made this recipe scaled down to 4 servings, and it was divine! My husband and I just loved this! I had wanted to make scalloped potatoes but was a bit intimidated by all the work that went into many of the other recipes. These were easy and delicious. I'll definitely be making them again!

Delicious! I added cheddar/mozzarella blend and a sprinkle of bacon bits to the top and took off the foil for the last 15 minutes of baking. Just the right amount of sauce in this recipe. Husband and toddler loved it!

Made this with frozen cubed hash browns because I didn't want to slice all those potatoes. Also added shredded sharp cheddar between layers and on top. It turned out excellent! Will definately make again.

This recipe was simple and delicious. My family loves onions, so I added an entire chopped onion. The dish also had to bake for almost two hours before it was finished. I possibly did something wrong, but it turned out great!

Really yummy! I did make a couple of changes though; I scaled it back to 4, added a tsp of garlic powder and grated aged cheddar in the layers. I found the potatoes a bit crunchy after 60 minutes still so I put them in the microwave on full for 10 minutes and they were perfect (I have an older microwave so you might not want to try it for that long). These are my new favourite potatoes!

I tried this recipe for Christmas and it turned out extremely runny. I changed the servings to 10 and followed the recipe to a T. Did not work. After baking it, let it rest thinking it would thicken...still no....runny. Then I tasted it...no flavor and runny. YUCK! Dumped it all and made garlic mashed potatoes instead. Thank goodness had potatoes on hand. Maybe it could of been changing the servings of the recipe which did not work and made it runny.

I've made this recipe several times, and each time it was extremely good. One of my grown sons has requested I make this for Thanksgiving dinner instead of the usual mashed potatoes.
