Its a great recipe. I did add some garlic powder and some more salt and pepper to the milk as well as topping the potatoes with cheese the last 20 minutes of baking

I give it a 5 and my husband gives it a 3..so we're meeting in the middle. This was the first time I'd ever made scalloped potatoes and they turned out great! Thanks so much for the recipe!

When there was about 10 minutes left of baking time, I added about 2 cuos of cheddar cheese crumbles, 1/2 fresh chives and 1/2 cup of Real bacon pieces. This made the recipie extra yummy. I will make again!!!

The best! I used heavy cream instead of milk and used cornstarch to thicken the sauce, as I can't have wheat. Supper yummy!

Sorry to rate poorly but I found this terribly bland. I even added some herbs and spices and it just didn't cut it for me. Still on the search for the best scalloped potatoes that are also reasonably healthy.

First time making scalloped potatoes and turned out fabulous, my boyfriend said like in a restaurant. Didn't have enough milk, so I added some chicken bouillon and water, and that gave it the salt it needed (as reviews often say not enough salt). Also added lots of dried herbs, extra pepper, and fresh garlic to the onion. Thought I added too much flour, as the sauce was really thick, but it turned out great. Sliced the potatoes really thin, made two thin layers with two layers of sauce, and it was ready in exactly one hour, with a nice slightly crisp browned top - perfect!

these turned out great. i halved the recipe and let it sit for 5 minutes to let the sauce set. i am always looking for inexpensive dishes to make using everyday ingredients. hubby was glad there was no cheese in it

My family and I just loved this recipe. I took other reviewers advice and added 4 cloves of minced garlic, cheese on each layer, and topped it off with parmasean cheese and parsley. I gave some to the neighbors husband, and he called to say, "that it was a sin to cook that good". We have been using this recipe regularly, and will never use scallops in a box again. Thank You, Marcie

I read all 100+ reviews first. I pre-boiled the potatoes, then sliced very thin. I used a large crockery square so there was just one layer of potatoes. I used heavy cream, as I needed to get that used up, & put in (dried) minced onions, some minced garlic, some parsley & added a slurry of flour & water stirring it in slowly. After pouring the sauce over the potatoes I crushed a bit of rosemary over the top, then sprinkled some Parmesan cheese, then a light dusting of smoked paprika. I baked at 375 for 1/2 an hour. Hubby & I LOVED it! I will be using this often! Thanks for the recipe, C. E.

These were awesome!!! I did make a couple of changes...I used more onion than what the recipe called for. I used two yellow onions and rather than chopping them I cut them in half and sliced them. I also used half and half for the sauce instead of milk. When I baked it I thought that the sauce was going to be too thick because of the half and half, but it was delicious. I did need to increase the cooking time and temp. After 45 minutes of cooking at 350 the potatoes were not nearly ready. I cranked the heat to 375 and let it cook another half hour...perfect. Make sure you cook it on a cookie sheet...lots of bubbling over. Rave reviews from all my easter dinner guests :)

I made this dish this evening and it was so yummy! I think it needed a little more salt, but it was so creamy and delicious. My kids loved it and the 4 year old had a second helping. So that's always a good sign. Thanks for the recipe.

This was my first time making homemade scalloped potatoes. They turned out GREAT. The only thing I changed is an added dash of garlic powder. I had no problems with the sauce being runny like other reviewers. I agree that more salt was needed, but I usually like my food on the salty side :) I will definitely make this again.
