Not too bad. I like a more chili sauce but my honey loved it! We put some hot sauce on it too and it gave it more of a zip.

As my gal Rachael would say, "Yum-O!!!!!" I added a bit more Chili Pepper Flakes for a bit more heat, but the sauce was perfect! I live in Clarksburg, WV and this is as close as you can get to those hot dog places (T&L, etc.) A definate staple for any household with kids! I couldn't keep my hubby away from it - he even made nachos with it the next day. The first batch only lasted two days - will be making it tomorrow for our hot dog roast over the firepit with the neighbors! Thanks SO UCH for the fab recipe!!! (It's hanging on my fridge so it is always handy!!!)

For all the trouble, I would rather just use some left over chili that my husband makes. It was ok but lacking on the chili flavor.

I thought this was a decent basic recipe for Hot Dog sauce. It is a sauce, not a chili as some reviewers seemed to be looking for more of a chili flavor. My batch turned out well, the texture and consistency was perfect and I substituted BEER for the water. This gave a sweet, deep flavor to the meat. I added a little more cumin, chili powder, salt and used ground red pepper for more of a bite. I will make this again and saute some onions first. I think a tbls or two of tomato paste could also help make this a little thicker for those who found it too thin.

I didn't care for this hot dog sauce, it tasted like homemade sloppy joes and I don't care for home made slopy joes (I prefer manwich. I gues I was expecting a more chili taste. I added everything and even added garlic and onion powders as per reviewers statements, but it just didn't help. My personal taste buds are at fault not the recipe. I will not be making this again.

My family really liked this. I will make this again. I mixed the leftovers with melted velveeta to make cheese sauce for nachoes which was very good too.

This was just OK. No one wanted seconds and I ended up adding spaghetti sauce to the rest and making a meat sauce to go with pasta for the next day.

This recipe was okay and the consistency was perfect but it just seemed to be lacking something. Made it as printed and did not experiment with it yet. We have a restaurant nearby that makes the "best ever" chili dogs but can't figure out the ingredients in their "secret" sauce so I thought I would give this a try for comparison.

We made it exactly as the recipe said (minus the red pepper flakes since we have friends who don't like anything spicy), and it was wonderful. Great flavor and texture. We'll definitely spice it up for ourselves next time, though.

Loved this recipe. Great on hotdogs and nachos!! I would have given this a 5 if it had a bit more heat to it, so I added some hot sauce, garlic powder and it was delicious. Will definitely make this again.

I grew up on midwestern "Spanish Hot Dogs," and even worked at B&K Root Beer making hot dogs in my youth. This is an excellent sauce, perhaps the best I've had! Wolf Brand??...I don't think so!!

Sorry to rate so low but this appears to be a regional specialty that just didn't suit our tastes. I'll stick to good old chili dog.

This is awesome! I'm from Oklahoma, so I haven't had the "coney dog" or any other specialty dog, but this is the best hot dog I've ever put in my mouth!

I had to drain the grease from the beef before I combined everything. I grow a lot of hot peppers and diced a portugal hot pepper in the sauce(without the seeds). It was really good. Took it to a hotdog and hamburger connection Sunday at church. Thanks for the recipe, but I really had to drain the grease from the ground beef first.(Iknow I already said that once.

I'm sorry to say that I did not like this recipe at all. Maybe I was remembering the "sauce" that I had as a child, but this was not it. Sorry again. I ususally love the recipes that I make from this site.
