Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 6 celery ribs, diced
  • 2 (10.5 ounce) cans condensed beef broth, undiluted
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup uncooked wild rice
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, cook beef and sausage over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.
  2. Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker. Add the celery, broth, water, onion, rice, mushrooms and soy sauce; mix well. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low; cover and cook for 4 hours or until the rice is tender.

  • Hearty Wild Rice is filling enough to be served as a main course with fresh whole wheat bread and a salad. Or use it as a side dish for any meaty entree.

Too salty and the wild rice didn't 'POP' as it's supposed to so I micrwaved it in batches to... MORE
