Easy and good, would add chicken or beef stew meat next time to make it a complete meal!

This soup is so simple, flavourful and delicious! Prep took almost no time at all. I stuck to the recipe but at the end added a couple tbsps of lemon juice and spicy red pepper flakes to "liven things up" just a little :) I served this for lunch with fresh bread and it was a perfect meal. My husband loved it as well. I will definitely make this again and again!

This soup is true to it's name. I cooked it the first time last winter when I had a cold. I felt better almost instantly. I've been making it regularly ever since. I make it whenever someone is sick and I make it when we want to enjoy a nice, delicious soup. The only change I make is that I use a whole head of cabbage. I never know what to do with the rest of the head and I don't like to waste food.

This recipe was a great base, but I did changed it and made the best soup I've ever had. I didn't have chicken cubes, so I used real chicken. Two big cut up chicken breasts boiled them in the water til they were done. I added broc, zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, bean sprouts, yellow squash, onions, 1/2 head cabbage, can of tomatoes, cayenne pepper, lots of granulated garlic.. It was so good and everyone loved it.

I was skeptical at first that so few ingredients could make a good soup. I was pleasantly surprised how good this is. I used red cabbage to get more nutritional bang and added red kidney beans for protein. The red cabbage turned the soup a pretty burgundy!

This is a pretty good soup but there seemed to be something missing... I'm not sure what though.

Very tasty and filling! Used leeks instead of onion and added a can of kidney beans for a little more substance. I thought it was great! (so did my coworker, I had to bring her some two days last week!) Thanks so much for the tasty, healthy recipe.

This soup was amazing. Best cabbage soup ever! I didn't mean to make changes to this recipe, but I used what I had in the pantry with the recipe as a guide: 32 oz of low sodium chicken broth and 16 oz of water as the main broth. I used the entire onion along with some shredded carrots. I had a can of diced tomato with garlic and onion. And I added a small can of spicy hot V-8 juice which added a nice kick.

This is an excellent basic soup recipe just as written, and also a handy recipe to have on hand as a starting point when you have a lot of random vegetables to use up. It's a great addition to my recipe box!

My sweet husband has a horrible summer cold so I looked this up. I made it for his lunch today and he really enjoyed it. It's a simple soup which is just what is needed when you are not feeling well. The only canned tomatoes I had was a can of tomato and okra put out by "Glory." The tomatoes had some spice already and it really complimented the flavor of the soup. I would recommend anyone who can find "Glory" canned vegetables at your supermarket to try this soup with the okra and tomatoes. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!!

I was just looking for some easy, quick soup that had cabbage in it. I also was coming down with a wham-dinger of a cold. Wouldn't you know, this did the trick. It was quick, easy, DELICIOUS, my kids LOVED it, and my cold was gone in the morning!!!

I had a bag of shredded broccoli and carrots that were pre-packaged for cabbage-less coleslaw. My son had a sore throat and so I decided to make soup instead of coleslaw and looked up this recipe and used my shredded broccoli/carrots in place of the cabbage. It was really good. I omitted s&p because my chicken broth powder which I used more than the recipe called for was already salty. It was good to dip some fresh bread with it. The olive oil was a good coating for his sore throat and of course the nutrients are also healing within themselves. Thanks for the recipe.

I made this recipe a little different to suit my family's tastes. I sauteed the half cabbage in with the onion and garlic, then added in the broth.I threw in a half package of matchstick carrots as well, to boost the flavor a bit. I also added in about two cups of coarsely chopped turkey and omitted the tomatoes. (We've made it with the tomatoes, and it's good, but I didn't this last time.) I also added in two bay leaves and a couple good shakes of worchestershire sauce. Is also good with egg noodles, for those who like a heartier soup. Good base soup. Very good for those ailing not only in the body, but also in the mind.

Added some packaged minced ham, celery and baby carrots. I also used twice the amount of boullion. It was great!

Very good soup. I was shocked that my 3 yr old and 6 yr old ate it without complaint. Hopefully it will make my sore throat better!

This was a delicious soup, but I found it lacking something. On my second preparation, I added some left over cut up ham which made it heartier for my taste. Next time I think I will try some smoked sausage.
