I hate to give yet another bad review, but the nutmeg was overpowering in this and the taste was nothing special. My husband wouldn't even eat it after taking one bite and I did make it according to directions. I think members are confused about the rating system here. If you have ever been to a 5 star restaurant and food was great, well that's 5 stars.

I had to make too many changes to warrant more than 3 stars. If I make this again, I will decrease the ginger and nutmeg as the flavor was overpowering. I added a little white wine vinegar to offset the sweetness of the mandarin oranges and pineapple. I also added a little more mayo because I like creamy coleslaw. Overall, I didn't like this much...

Although this was extremely easy to make...it turned out just ...ok. No real WOW factor. Made it for a hawaiian themed dinner, everyone ate it, no one went back for seconds. Will I make this again?? probably not

I made this for a Hawaiian party. It was pretty good and served it's purpose. It is not "to die for" but I would make it again.

I made this for a Hawaiian themed scrapbooking workshop and all the ladies really enjoyed the fruity flavor. It is a really nice twist to the standard slaw.

This was really... weird. I had a good-sized head of cabbage, so I decided to try two different types of coleslaw to try to convince my husband that not all coleslaw is evil. This would not have convinced him had he given it a try. It had a really weird taste. Sort of like the idea of a savory candy, it just didn't do anything for me. My three-year old picked out the fruit and enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing, Christine, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. :)

I made this dish with the "Hawaiian Spareribs" (on this site) for a party. Like many have said, it gets pretty soggy after a little time. But the flavor is great - especially for one who doesn't like "traditional" coleslaw (namely me).

I was hesitant to use this b/c most of my family is very set in their ways. My hubby even cringed and couldn't believe I would mess with a good thing. but I did it anyway and I received more compliments on this. I followed the recipe exact for using the bagged slaw mix. Mine wasn't soupy at all. Thanks for sharing it.

I made this for a Hawaiian Luau last month and it was a big hit. It was easy to make but I made 50 servings, so it was difficult finding large enough bowls to mix it in. I will make it again. It is not good for leftovers due to amount of liquid it makes once it sits in the frig.

Out of the group of about 15 I served this to, only one person really liked this recipe. Something about the flavor just wasn't right. It was easy to make but we just didn't love it.

I made this for a "luau" at my son's school. It was a great hit! I loved it, too. I wanted to pass on how I presented it. I cut a pineapple down the middle lengthwise (I used my electric knife, which made it sooo easy.) I cut out the insides to make a pineapple boat. I then filled the two halves with the coleslaw. It was so great that I am going to do it again this weekend. Oh, yeah, I used a bag of shredded slaw mix instead of shredding my own. Made it very easy.

Loved this! I agree with adding the juice to the mayo. I added roasted peanuts, also, at the end. Served with a fruited pork loin roast, and rice. Everyone loved it!

Made for a Hawaiian dinner party. I used a bag of shredded cabbage because it seems to be dryer and better for coleslaw. The bag was a bit more than 4 cups. It was really good. The flavour was quite different! I loved it! The only change I made was to omit the salt. I almost never add salt. Next time I won't toss the cabbage with the liquid from the oranges, I'll mix it (and the seasonings) with the mayo. And I would only use 2 Tbsp of mayo. Also, add the oranges last so you don't crush them when you stir.

This was a nice variation of the original. I will make it again for themed parties. It didn't taste nearly as good the next day, so only make what you need.
