I'm not sure about this.... I made a batch for dinner last week. My bf wasn't over, so I decided to make myself stroganoff (he doesn't like the stuff and, coincidentally, I was craving it). I made a double batch, freezing half for another night. While this was "OK", it wasn't the greatest. I had to add a mixture of 2 T cornstarch/water to my meat mixture in order to thicken the sauce to my liking (as is, the sauce is VERY thin) and double the amount of garlic to even taste it. The sauce had a very sour taste due to the excessive amount of lemon juice called for. I should have fried up my beef/onion/garlic mixture, removed half to my Gladware container and then added a can of beef consomme and 1.5 T lemon juice to both the container and skillet and then proceed with the recipe as directed. I don't think I'll even make the other half of this recipe since I disliked it so much. At least I enjoyed the green beans and dinner rolls I served on the side :o There are just WAY too many good recipes for stroganoff on this site to even consider giving this one a second chance. Noodles Marmaduke by JAFWARE is still my favorite (although I've had even better than that). Sorry!

This was really yummy! I didn't have beef consumme so I used a can of low sodium chicken broth and a can of cream of mushroom soup (as another reviewer posted). Sauted onion and garlic in oil/butter then added fresh mushrooms, removed from pan and added ground meat, and added a 2 tsp of paprika. Once cooked thru I added the mushrooms, soup, broth and heated thru. Added a nice size dollop of sour cream. YUMMY! Thanks for posting.

This was great! I had to use some powders and shortcuts, but kept the ingredients the same. I used beef broth, a can of cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 tsp each of onion and garlic powder, 1 T lemon pepper, and 3/4 c. sour cream for the whole batch. (it's all I had left) I let mine simmer for 40 min though first until it thickened some and then added the sour cream right at the end. Hubby LOVED this so much! I thought it turned out very creamy and was super easy. This only made enough for 3 of us and like I said, I didn't divide this into half, I used the whole thing. It's so versatile even with the substitutions I had to make it still turned out fabulous. Thanks Aline, it's great!

Instead of fresh mushrooms, which I didn't have on hand I just used a can of cream of mushroom soup and replaced the lemon juice with a tablespoon of spicy mustard. It added a little something to make you say mmmmmm. :) Will be using this recipe again, and maybe I'll try the fresh mushrooms next time.

Definately a keeper - always looking for something new for hamburger.I made the recipe as is (didn't freeze any, used it all that night) and the only problem was I needed to thicken it at the end - it was a little too thin for my liking but an arrowroot slurry took care of it easily. Next time I will double it and freeze half to see how that works. One and three year olds also liked it. Thanks for a new addition to my recipe box.
