A really hearty weeknight meal. Added fresh garlic and served on a bed of rice. My family loved it.

My kids really liked this one. I followed the recipe for the meat patties but made some pretty big changes on the gravy. I just couldn't get myself to use hamburger grease as the base for my gravy so here is what I did. I cooked the patties on a stovetop griddle and then removed to some foil to keep warm. Then I cooked my onions in another pan in a bit of olive oil, sprinkling with some seasoning salt, then removed to keep warm. For the gravy I heated together 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, about 1/2 cup beef broth, about 1/2 cup milk, and the sherry. I placed the patties in a large serving dish, topped with the onions and then poured the gravy over the top. It was great! Don't over season the meat. The amounts shown are plenty.

Overall this was good, served over mashed potato. Quick and very budget friendly. More like a 3.5 but I'll give it a 4. The taste of the steaks were really yummy. The gravy however was VERY, VERY bland. I never have sherry to hand so I left it out. Not a great thing to do. I did add some fresh roasmary and a few cloves of garlic while I browned the meat and onions for some flavour. Might work well with some red wine...next time I'll try.

Delicious! A big hit with everyone in my family! I added peas and accidentally added WAY too much sherry. It needed some salt, too. I served over rice and my husband made a sandwich out of it! Will definitely make again and again!! Nice and easy and Cheap!!

We first made this over rice and it was ok, then we made it over mashed potatoes and it was FABULOUS! My kids devoured it and it's now a favorite at our house. I add an extra tablespoon of flour and dump the whole can of beef broth in so there is more gravy. Easy recipe that tastes great.

Good, cheap, easy and I always have these ingredients on hand. I omitted the Sherry because I couldn't get the bottle open which is probably just as well since it's at least 7 years old. Next time I'll probably add more broth and maybe some milk but it's still great as written.

This was excellent. 5 stars with a couple additions to the gravy. The meat seasoning was perfect, but I felt the gravy was lacking in flavor, so I added a tblspn of low sodium soy sauce and worcestershire, and it really did the trick - lots of flavor.

We enjoyed this very much, followed the recipe except poured just a bit of broth into the pan to deglaze removing the 'bits' from the bottom of the pan because I was using a cast iron pan and don't like to use 'metal' with it. Next time I will add mushrooms, a little minced garlic, and double the gravy as many others suggested.

This was a great and easy recipe. I was looking for something simple to make, so the number of ingredients was a little intimidating, but once I got started, it was a piece of cake. I will definitely use this recipe again.

I don't care for hamburger steak, but I made this for my husband and my parents and they all raved about it. I did make some changes. I sauted the onions then removed them from the pan. Then I browned the hamburger patties in the pan, then transferred them to the oven till they were almost done. I tripled the gravy (didn't use the sherry) and added the onions back to the pan, then put the patties, which were almost done, back in the gravy and simmered on very low heat for about 10 minutes.

Ymmy.. I didn't have beef broth or sherry. Used 1cup milk and little water for a white gravy instead. My husband really liked it. I will make it again.

We really enjoyed this recipe. The only thing I would do differently would be to add the onions when the meat is nearly cooked. The gravy was fantastic with the sherry added. Thanks for this recipe.

So very very good! This was a family pleaser for sure, I agree about making double gravy and I also added fresh sliced mushrooms! They added a little something to the gravy! All in all an easy and scrumptious entree!
