Good recipe for minimal ingredients and a low cost! I doubled the onions/gravy and I'm glad I did! I went easy on the salt in the gravy so people could add more to taste if they wanted. We ate it with a baked potato and salad. The only thing I didn't like was that it had a very strong aroma that was in my house all day but I'll still make it again!

I didn't change anything when I made this and it came out nice. My mother and grandmother loved it. I wasn't as crazy about it as them, but I think its just about personal taste. I will be making it again though. Its a nice comforting meal on a cold night.

This was a very good recipe. My children loved it. I did add Burgandy cooking wine to the recipe instead of the sherry. All in all you can not go wrong.

i'm a southern girl living in yankeeland, so i found this recipe in my search for a taste of home and it really hit the nail on the head. just fantastic, the gravy was so scrumptious, i was licking the spoon i used to stir it! I seasoned the patties with grill seasoning before browning them, and omitted the sherry because i didn't have any on hand, and they were still just amazing. I also used a combo of EVOO and butter instead of vegetable oil since the gravy used a roux as the base. this was so wonderful, exactly what we were looking for!

Made this with ground turkey, extra onion, and mushrooms. Left out the beef broth and used the juice from sauteed mushrooms that I saved from other recipes in the freezer and a little extra sherry. Absolutely incredible. Will most assuredly be making this again soon.

This is a great recipe! My husband and kids loved it. I followed the recipe exactly, only I did double the gravy to put on mashed potatoes and I am glad I did...it was excellent!

This was very good. I doubled the gravy part so we would have plenty for mashed potatoes. A keeper for sure.

I didn't have any sherry OR onions, but this recipe turned out wonderfully. I used french onion soup mix instead, and it came out nicely. I'm sure with fresh onions, it would be even better. Very easy recipe!

My family loved this recipe. I didnt have all the ingredients to make the gravy but I did have some canned gravy that I used instead. The meat was so tasty and tender. I will definitely make this again.

This was good but not great. Was quite easy though. One of my family loved it, the rest said we could do without it again.

Why bother reviewing a recipe if you change it to a totally different recipe? Pointless to give a bad review on a recipe you screwed up yourself by not following the directions. o.O My family really enjoyed this recipe and I have made it several times since I found it. Goes great with homemade mashed potatoes and buttery rolls!

My family really liked this, I mixed up my patties the day before.I did not use an egg, I don't like adding it to my meat, I used a 1/4c. water instead & that worked great. Thanks for the great recipe! :)

This is definitely a keeper! My husband absolutely loved this recipe. The gravy is delicious. I didn't have any cooking Sherry though so I substituted Cream Sherry and it really gave the gravy a nice flavor. I over cooked the hamburger steaks so they were a little dry, but that was MY fault. Next time I make them, which will probably be next week, I will not cook them as long and I think I will not use as lean of a hamburger meat. Thank you for a wonderful recipe.

I followed exactly but left out the seasoned salt. DO NOT skip the cooking sherry, it only costs a couple dollars and is located by all the vinegars in the grocery store. Oh, and I made 4 patties out of this because I didn't think my pan could fit 8. Will make again and again!

Sooo good! My husband's new favorite dish. He's asked to have it every week now. I left out the sherry, but everything else was perfect. Yummy--and I don't even like ground beef! Thank you!!

i give it two stars because it is easy... but it tastes easy (i thought it was yucky) and only one of my kids would eat it with bribery... the other decided it wasn't worth it.

Second time making this and it was even better than before! Don't know what I did to make it better, but it was! It was hard flipping the patties w/all the onions and the whole pan was full of grease but the end result was ALL worth it!
