I liked the idea of this but as hamburger steaks au jus. I made the hamburger steaks as is, only doubled it and used fresh bread crumbs. I also added an envelope of onion soup mix instead of onion powder. I cooked the onions in the drippings and served them on the hamburger steaks in hoagie rolls and used the gravy as au jus, sans cornstarch. Very good as an au jus. I served it with No Fuss Potato Salad and sliced fresh tomatoes. The whole family ate well and were happy. ;) The elements of the recipe are all there, it was just served differently.

I wasn't very impressed with these. I think they are bland and the gravy wasn't anything spectacular.

I have made this dish probably twice a month and my family absolutely loves it! You must use the sherry in order to get the most flavor!! Excellent, thanks so much for the recipe!!

I cooked this exactly per the recipe, except doubled the gravy. It was completely awesome and it will become a regular part of our dinner routine! Even the picky eaters loved it!

Very tasty! I made this on a cold and rainy day...needed some comfort food. I made the recipe as written except for adding some mushrooms. I will be making this again for sure!

I have made this recipe, just as it is, several times now & it is quick & easy to prepare. We call it comfort food. Great for those cold Manitoba nights. My husband loves the gravy so I always make extra.

My fussy husband loved this. It reminded him of the hamburger steak he use to get at the local diner. Have added to our favorites list.

I believe that this is the best hamburger steak recipe that I have ever eaten. I was at a relly super restaurant some time ago and the hamburger steak there was good but not as good as this one.

This was a hit, even with my children! I fried the hamburgers and made the gravy (doubled it) and then put it all in the crock pot on "warm" while we were at church. It turned out perfectly! I will definitely make this again!

THIS WAS OK. TO ME IT TASTED LIKE A HAMBURGER PATTY WITH GRAVY ON IT. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE MORE LIKE A SALISBURY STEAK, BUT IT WASNT. MY HUSBAND BARELY ATE HIS DINNER AND REFUSED TO TAKE THE LEFTOVERS FOR LUNCH THE NEXT DAY. I THINK THIS RECIPE HAS POTENTIAL, HOWEVER I DONT THINK I WILL BE TRYING IT AGAIN. THANKS FOR SHARING = )

A nice, simple to make meal. I followed as directed, only using pineapple juice as a substitue for the sherry, only because I didn't have any sherry and couldn't justify buying a bottle for 2 tablespoons worth. Make sure you use a large skillet to fit all 8 patties. I will definitely make this again but I will scale back on the amount of sliced onions, maybe 1/2 - 3/4 cup instead of 1 cup to suit my taste buds.

Good recipe for minimal ingredients and a low cost! I doubled the onions/gravy and I'm glad I did! I went easy on the salt in the gravy so people could add more to taste if they wanted. We ate it with a baked potato and salad. The only thing I didn't like was that it had a very strong aroma that was in my house all day but I'll still make it again!

I didn't change anything when I made this and it came out nice. My mother and grandmother loved it. I wasn't as crazy about it as them, but I think its just about personal taste. I will be making it again though. Its a nice comforting meal on a cold night.
