I really enjoyed this...I did not have any tomatoes and was a little shy of a half a cup of mayo so I used 2 table spoons of ketchup to get that tomato flavor. it didn't look anything like the pic either, lol...but tasted soooo good. we had no hamburger buns (grocery day was 2 days away, lol...so was low on some things) but I made fried potatoes and made toast and served the hamburger mix over the toast with a slice of cheese on it and heated it a little bit. later that night I heated up the rest of the fried potatoes and spooned some of the left over hamburger mix over the potatoes and topped it with cheese and even that was delish!!

This afternoon I was thinking about Sloppy Joes, heaven only knows why but I was. Then I came across this recipe and since I had all the ingredients I decided to give it a try. Like others I was leery, but you have to try new things from time to time right? It was ok but it seemed a bit boring to me, it needs something else to perk it up, hot sauce or something. I’m not sure I’ll be making it again, but it might be something different to whip up while camping. None the less, thanks for sharing it with us.

Skeptical at first but it was a huge hit! Felt like something different and this was awesome. I made a few changes. I only cooked half of the onion with the meat garlic mix, and added chili powder, and garlic and onion powders to enhance the flavors. Added the rest of the onion raw along with the pickle to give it that salad crunch, along with 5 boiled eggs. Didn't have any tomatoes, so I added some salsa. Mmm mmm good! No leftovers is a good sign I'll be making it again! Thanks allrecipes and Joanna!

I made this for book club and it was a big hit - I gave it 5 stars even tho I did "tweak" it a bit - used 1 TBSP mustard and 2 TBSP catsup - also added some REAL bacon bits and used half of chopped onion in skillet and half in finished salad. I consider a recipe 5 stars if the basic combination of items work and I only tweak personal taste in one or two flavors

I have to say I was a little leary about this, but I wanted to try something other than sloppy joes, or goulashes with ketchup, or tomato base. We all were very suprised how good this came out. the kids said it reminded them of a fast food burger. My husband said this is a keeper, and then wanted to know when I was going to make it again. This was a real life saver, at a time when I couldn't decide what to make. Thanks for posting
