I used this as a basis for the soup, but left out beans, thyme and beef broth, because I didn't have any. I used minced onion because my hubby doesn't like onion, and only used 2 tsps italion seasoning. I added egg noodles instead of shell pasta. It was absolutely wonderful, my daughter ate almost every bit of it, and went on and on about how great it was.

This is a really easy, tasty, comforting soup. I made it as written, except that I had no kidney beans around...I used pinto instead. The soup was very, very good, with lots of flavor. It was also quite hearty, and healthy as well. Thanks for sharing the recipe...I'll probably make it again!!!

Such a good, hearty soup. Used frozen pearl onions (yummy and sweet), Lipton Beefy Onion to flavor it as I didn't have beef broth, added a dash of Worcestershire sauce, and a can of creamy Tomato soup instead of the tomato paste (didn't have it on hand). Instead of the frozen veggies i just used frozen corn kernels and frozen chopped spinach. I thoguht it was perfect. Would have given it 5 stars (even my seven year old loved it)had it not been for my substitutions.
