Really good, and easy! I didn't have frozen veggies, so I used a can of green beans and a can of corn. It turned out great. I will definitely make again! I also used about 5 cups of hash browns and cooked in a 9x13 since there are six in my family. It turned out great.

Pretty tasty. I didn't have gravy mix so I used cream of potato soup and corn instead of mixed vegetables as I didn't have those either and omitted french fried onions as I didn't have those either! It still came out tasty though.

I give this recipe a 4 because of all the processed items in it. I used this recipe as a base and completely overhauled it with fresh ingredients. It significantly increases your prep time however. 1) Use fresh potatoes, peel and grated. Parboil and then saute in a pan with a bit of oil. 2)Cook meat as the recipe states. Use homemade gravy instead of pacakged. 3) Slice onions and dip them in buttermilk, dunk into flour seasoned with Italian seasonings and pan fry. Follow the rest of the recipe as stated. My kids love this recipe because they think the potatoes are french fries and hubby loves it because it is meat and potatoes. Thanks for the recipe.

My husband and I found that crumbled bacon adds a wonderful flavor to this dish.

This was good! All 4 of my kids and I liked it, my husband did not. It was easy and tasty and I already warned my husband it's staying in the rotation of recipes!

Fabulous recipe I've dubbed the upside down Shephard's Pie. I chuckle at all those laboring to cook their hashbrowns in the oven. Here's a hint, cook them in a little olive oil in a pan too..lightly brown them so they are starting to crisp an dthen use them like a pie crust in a pie dish for the base...About 10 minutes in the oven and then put the rest of the inredients in per the instructions and bake for about another 10 minutes. I cooked my onions with my ground beef also and I used 2 packages of dry gravy mix since it ups the water content and made for a better consistency imo. Otherwise is it delicious! LOVE IT!

Doubled this in a 9x13, used fresh potatoes shredded, rinsed and pat dry to make 8 cups of hash browns (adding salt to them as well) and then followed the rest of the directions (cooking hash browns for 50 minutes) substituting 2 cans of corn and mozz for cheddar (no onions). Needed to grease the 9x13 and should have made the sides go all the way to the top of the 9x13 because that's how far up the mixture went.Pretty good taste, needs more salt (at least for us) and very greasy even though we used the leanest beef available. Might make it again; add hot sauce next time?

All the boys here ate this up. I made several changes, though. First, I sprayed the pan with cooking spray & put the hash browns in, seasoned with season salt & pepper. Then sprayed the top of the hash browns with more spray. For the ground beef, I used leftover meatloaf (I hate throwing food away) and instead of frozen veggies, I added a can of Ranch-style beans (with liquid). I also only topped it with cheese & no onions because I'm out. Anyway, all 5 boys devoured it.

I used cream of mushroom soup as I did not have gravy on hand and it worked great! I also used frozen chopped onions in the hamburger mix.

The flavor was great, but the hash browns weren't crunchy. Next time I'll make the hashbrowns on the stove top and dump the filling over a nest of crunchy potatoes instead. Even our 8 year-old said I should make it again.
