The sauce is definitely what makes this recipe a 5 star! I used the liquid in the can of cherries as well as the full cup of cold water. It was still a bit thick, so added a few tablespoons more of water. For a redder sauce, add a couple of drops of red food coloring. Together with the lightly seasoned spiral ham, it was out of this world. Served with honey dill carrots, seasoned snap peas (both recipes here on allrecipes) and cheesy potatoes. Definitely one of the best meals we've had in quite awhile.

I did not cook the ham which is why I am only giving this a 4 stars. What I did was make the cherry sauce from this recipe using fresh cherries as a cheesecake topping recipe on this website. I will update the rate and review for this at a later time when I do use this ham recipe. As for the cherry sauce...AWESOME! I used only 2T of cornstarch which ended up being more than thick so I had to add a little water to thin the sauce a little to my liking. wonderful sauce!

This was absolutely DELICIOUS! We did have some of the sauce left over, but it is perfect for crepes. This is a keeper, and highly recommended too! Thank You for sharing!

This was delicious! My husband and I enjoyed this and the leftovers were great. I used the bone to make split pea soup and it also had a wonderful flavor.. This will probably be my Easter ham recipe this year.

Great ham and cherry sauce! I made the sauce with sweet cherries once and also once with tart cherries. We preferred the tart cherries. A little ginger and a pinch of cloves also brings out more of the cherry flavor.

WOW!!!! I made the ham and the cherries and WOW, this was a TOTAL hit. I baked the ham longer- as the directions on my ham said 20-25 mins per pound of meat, and I had a 9 pound bone-in ham. I made everything else exactly as written and WOW, seriously amazing! My brother had dinner with us, and was leery of trying the cherries on the meat because he said he hates sweet meats, but when he tried them together he had 2nds! SO GREAT! I was doing this as a trial run before Christmas, and this will be my main dish on Christmas day! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I made this Cherry Sauce for Thanksgiving. It was a huge hit. My husband has finished off all the leftovers. It would even be a great sauce for ice cream. I will definitely be making again. Thanks for sharing

We made this Cherry Sauce today and it was a hit. I am not a fan of raisins and was trying to get away from the raisin sauce. This was a huge improvement and everyone was happy. It was like a little bit of dessert in the main course.

Wonderful sauce. I did not make the ham, just the cherry sauce. Took the advice of the previous reviewer, who remarked that the sauce was very thick. Used only 1 tbsp cornstarch instead of the 3 tbsp specified in the recipe. Otherwise used the recipe without changes.
