I use minced jalapenos instead of cayenne, but otherwise have made this twice just as described and it was delicious both times.

Best guacamole recipe... I used powered garlic and red onion. Also added smoked paprika.

I felt this did not have a good balance of flavors. The predominant flavors are overwhelmingly cilantro and lime juice, followed by raw garlic and raw onion. I like to taste the avocados (and it was hard to taste them in this recipe) and have some kick too. The cilantro and lime flavors did tone down a little after 48 hours. It sure looked beautiful though.

I love guacamole however not had much luck making it at home until this recipe came along. This is simply awesome. My wife doesn't like guacamole but loved this recipe. This recipe is great as is, no changes needed.

The best quacamole I've ever had! I made this for a house warming party and everyone loved it! I did use lemon juice instead of a fresh lime and it still came out awesome!

This is very good. I usually double the garlic and omit the tomato and it's quite tasty that way.

This is the perfect Guacamole for people who don't like anything hot. With the Jalapeno it is the perfect Guagamole. If you boil the tomato for two mintues then cop and add, it helps to make it smoother, if you don't like chunky.I did not add any oil.

A great recipe although i did think there was too much salt and not enough lime, i had to add the juice of 3 imes to counteract the saltiness. I used red onions and cherry tomatoes. A bit of tweaking makes this a five :D

This recipe is almost identical to the one I've been making for years. The reason I'm only giving it 3 stars is because it is missing one of the most important ingredients... JALAPENO!!! Oh my goodness. It's so ridiculous that this recipe has such great reviews despite the fact that it's missing something so critical. I think the cayenne is unnecessary and minced jalapeno be substituted in its place. Just a small amount is needed for taste, and for those of us who love hot, hot, hot, at least one full jalapeno should be added. Additionally, the recipe should specify that it is sweet red onion that should be used. Hope this helps.

This is the guacamole recipe I've been looking for, and it will now be in my favorite recipes file! I followed the recipe as written, except I did add 1/2 tsp. cumin and 1/2 serrano pepper (chopped and seeded)for some more spice. Only complaint was it was a little salty esp. when served with chips, so next time I will put 1/2 teaspoon salt instead of a full teaspoon. Good tip I read from other reviewers---keep the seeds of the avocado in the guacamole until ready to serve---it really helped prevent it from turning brown! (Even with the seeds in it, though, definitely use it the day you make it, as it is very perishable!)Also, I recommend cutting the cilantro very fine--as you don't want full leaves in the guacamole. Thanks Bob!

This recipe is great. I used red onion and forgot the cilantro. It still turned out pretty good. Although, I'm not sure if a full tsp of salt is necessary. I will make this again in the very near future. UPDATE: A 1/2 tsp of salt is all that is needed and 2 cloves makes this the perfect dip!

My husband gave it 5 stars. I added a little sour cream and left out the cilantro. I am sure it would be delicious either way. I will definitely use this recipe again.

This guac tastes exactly like what we got in Mazatlan last summer. My husband scarfs it down every time. Even my three-year old begs for more! Fresh cilantro and lime are musts. Absolutely spectacular.

Simple recipe, absolutely awesome! I didn't have dry cayenne so I added a couple shots of Tobassco sauce. No fresh cilantro so I used dry. We served it with a dollop of sour cream. Yum!

This is absolutely the best guac I've ever had! I've made it twice now, and it was devoured by friends. The only thing I do differently because I know my "audience" is that I add some pureed jalapenos to give it just a little kick.

This is a good guacamole recipe but only became worth five stars after I added some chili powder. Probably really only the needed the cumin component of the chili powder but the only cumin I had on hand was whole and I was too lazy to toast and grind it.
