Nice and tasty recipe. I did not have okra, nor anything I would consider substituting, so I left the okra out. I did at ground chili pepper.

This was great! I did make a few changes according to what I had on hand. I used ground turkey instead of ground chicken, canned diced tomatoes instead of crushed and no okra. I also added a little more Cajun seasoning because I love it and left out the hot pepper sauce. I served this gumbo over buttered macaroni. My family really enjoyed this recipe and it was quick and easy. I would definitely make this again!

Great recipe! I added a little extra heat with some cayenne and used okra that I froze this summer from my garden. Wonderful!

Simply a wonderful Gumbo. It's not spicy to the point where you need something to drink after a couple of bites, but enough for a slight kick. We are okra lovers so we used 3 cups instead of one. My husband never wants to eat left overs unless it's from one of 3 meals. This is one of those three. The best part is, it's pretty healthy besides the sodium content.

It was OK, but ground chicken is not something we enjoyed. I doubled the recipe so unfortunately I have a lot leftover.

This was absolutely delicious! I followed the recipe for the most part but I used canned italian stewed tomatoes because I put those in almost EVERYTHING. And I used Zucchini instead of Okra because I've never had that before. It was perfect, leftovers were great too!

the type of hot sauce you use is key. i used LT's hot sauce which is basically a wing sauce and it was fantastic!

wow! Everyone loved this! I put in vegetable cocktail and some chopped fresh tomatoes in instead of the canned tomatoes and it was really nice!

I did not care for this recipe. I followed directions with two exceptions: 1) I cut the tomatoes down - I left a bit in the can (seemed too runny). 2) I omitted the hot sauce (I had to feed a 1 year old and 4 year old). Even my husband who eats anything left a mound on his plate. The ONLY thing that could have given this a "3" is if it had sausage in it. It was definitely missing many things, but sausage was a flavor that could have been added. I had to add a bit of sugar and a lot of cajun seasoning to eat this.
