This was just ok. Nothing too special. My husband said it might taste better with sausage.

It's an awesome recipe! I chose to give it a tex-mex twist by adding an envelope of taco seasoning mix instead of salt and pepper. I added sides of sour cream, salsa, refried beans and more cheese. Even my sons who are finicky eaters enjoy eating it.

This was so easy! I did add one chopped onion and a little ketchup - my husband loved it!

I loved this recipe. I added liquid smoke, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the ground beef then added sliced potatoes to top before adding batter. Taste just as good the next day.

Jazzed iy up a little. While the beef was browning added some onion, garlic, bay leaves, and mustard seed. Then poured batter into muffin pans. Added beef, cheese, and covered in more batter. Perfect serving size.

I only used cheddar and I added a lot more than it called for since I'm a cheese lover, it tasted so good.

My husband really liked this meal. After reading several reviews I too added several more ingredients to it and it turned out great. I added onions, celery, carrot and mushrooms to the meat as it cooked. I also added soy sauce, worchester, A1, garlic salt and italian seasonings. I only used 1C Milk because I was worried when the mixture was so thin. If I would have used the other 1/2C it would have over-flowed the pie plate.

This is a good starter and definitely needs jazzing up. Took recommendations from other reviews and added onion, mushrooms and carrots. Also added chili powder and some beef broth instead of milk.

Not exactly in the category of "Great" recipies but a good starting block. The recipe IS bland dont get me wrong, but just throw in your own ideas for added flavor and see what you can make out of it.

I added worchestershire sauce, onion, garlic, a little beef broth, corn and did not add the cheese and my family really liked it.

It definitely needed more spice. Onion would have been nice...it was very bland. And the top was odd--possibly using the broiler for the last 5-7 minutes would have given it a crust instead of the mush it was.

As other reviews have said, it is a good basic recipe. Okay by itself, but deinitely able to be tailored to your taste. That's exactly what I like about it. We added 1 clove garlic, about 1/4 tsp. Thyme, and onions. Also added mashed potatoes with pimentos mixed in and sharp cheese between the beef and cheese layer. That's our version. Definitely good. I think it would be good with peas and carrots also. :)

My family would give this a 4 star with the few additions I made to the recipe. I added 1 tsp of oregano & basil. Over the ground beef & cheese I added a small can of tomato sauce. Once the crust was on I sprinkled more cheddar cheese & a little garlic powder. Yummo!!! Enjoy.

If you follow the recipe exactly, be prepared for Bland-City! However, here are some simple variations: For Italian Style - I added garlic, onion, fresh oregano, fresh basil, salt & pepper to the ground beef. I used a 5 italian cheese mix (mozzarella, romano, provolone, asiago and parm) in lieu of cheddar. After you bake it finish it off with a little pizza sauce ( I used contadina pizza squeeze) on top. **I also only used 1 cup of milk versus the cup and a half it calls for** For a Mexican Variation: Add cumin, onion, garlic, chili powder (or a simple taco seasoning packet) and jack cheese along with cheddar. This was an excellent jumping off recipe, just with a twist

This is a simple recipe that depends on you to make it excellent. Cook the beef with onion and garlic and add a little worcestershire sauce as well. Then add some corn and maybe some olives if you like. Add a can of diced tomatoes, a can of green chiles, and some chili powder. And don't skimp on the cheese! It comes out tasting like a southwestern quiche. But the recipe is simple enough you could adapt it to any style of cooking. Have fun with it.

This is too bland. It needs something else like tomatoes or something. My family did not like it. Probably won't make it again.
