Really enjoyed these and I'll be making them again this way in a few days for Thanksgiving. I used the apple juice and Asian (toasted) sesame oil, and I agree with another reviewer that the sesame oil is key. Instead of steaming the sweet potatoes, I just baked them in the oven, wrapped in foil, until they were about 3/4 done, then peeled the potatoes and proceeded from there. I was just too lazy to get the steamer out & set up, and it seemed to work find.

These grilled sweet potatoes were great!!! I had to substitute the apple juice for OJ and used maple syrup in place of honey as suggested by another reviewer. Cooked about 20 minutes total on the grill, but great taste!!!

Just tried this recipe and loved it! I followed it as is, using the sherry and sesame oil. Mmm. I broiled instead of grilling because our grill was full. Grilling might have made them even tastier but we were pleased. One reviewer thought the flavor didn't go through the potatoes enough. I think the key is not having really big pieces of sweet potato. Mine were about 2" x 1" and they were quite flavorful.

I followed the recipe and did not make any substitutions. It is not what I expected from the reviews... it was just ok. Definitely a stretch for 3 stars, but I base it on the fact that it did taste ok - just not great.

I found this recipe disappointing. Flavours didn't penetrate the potatoes. Won't use this one again - sorry.

This is a great recipe. I love to find recipes like this. Sweet potatoes are so good for you but not with all the butter and sugar like we get at Thanksgiving (although I love those too). This is a healthy and tasty way to prepare sweet potatoes! Thanks!

Not that great. The marinade did not really permeate the potatoes. Next time maybe I'll just make the sauce for dipping since it was so easy & used on hand ingredients.

These were really good. The flavor was delicious. I ended up baking them for about 20 minutes instead of grilling. I omitted the sesame oil in favor of vegetable oil and didn't include water.

The soy sauce and sesame oil did not compliment the potato at all. I ended up throwing it away because no one would eat it.

Excellent sauce, not need to add water. Didn't have sesame oil, so I added sesame seeds instead. Never by looking at the ingredients would I have thought this tasted soooo gooood!!!

Excellent recipe! However, if using sweet apple, I would recommend no added sugar at all. This was certainly a hit served with Grilled 'Fusion' Cork chops, and Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

Your basting mixture for this recipe is delicious. The sesame oil was the secret I think. I didn't have sherry or apple juice, so I used pineapple juice and it turned out fine. This baste was so good I rubbed it on our steaks! Excellent sweet potatoes.
