Some tips Ive found that perfect the grilled cheese. Use REAL butter. Not margarine, not spray, nothing else. Sour Dough sliced bread is to die for on grilled cheese. dont cook too high, or it will burn for sure.

My mom always added a slice of tomato and a sprinkle of oregano inside. Rye bread or Portugese bread are good, too. And, two slices of cheese are a must!

Go to a grocery store with an instore bakery. Most of them make some kind of artisan bread. Buy that bread and slice for the sandwiches. Use slices of a nice smoked sharp cheddar or smoked Gouda or whatever kind of cheese you like. Now follow the recipe. When done, serve these with hot tomato soup. Now that's pretty close to heaven.

As a non-American I never knew that this is how to make grilled cheese sandwiches. We do eat grilled cheese but never spread anything on the outside. I tried this with mayo and used our panini press and it turned out great. Thanks for posting it!

Try sprinkling a little garlic salt on the buttered side of the bread before cooking. It's the only way we eat them!!

I used Natures Own Honey 7 grain bread and promise spread with cracker barrel sharp cheddar cheese. The bread has real grain embedded in it, and the texture and taste was awesome with the cheese. I put 2 slices of cheese for each sandwich. My hubby loved it so much he had three! Easy and tasty, it doesn't get any better than that.

Classic. I took my classic grill cheese to a new level and made cute little cookie cutter shapes. Yes, the Christmas tree grilled cheese pics are my creativity run amok. (:

All that's missing from this classic recipe is a bit of mayo! Spread some on before you add the cheese.

Being a student studying abroad really requires alot of time and devotion, especially when you’re a bachelor. This meal came in so handy at times that it’s seriously underrated. Amazing how bread, cheese, and butter can accumulate together to form such a mouth watering dish. Although the sandwich tastes amazing without any alterations, I would recommend adding a few slices of tomatoes, and a pinch of hot sauce to give it a little flare.Add a bag of chips to the dish and your good to go. I would totally recommend this sandwich if you’re a busy individual with little time on your hands. And I would defiantly recommend every guy out there to try it. Enjoy.

How can you not love grilled cheese? Nice toasty buttery bread with melty gooey cheese! I make a variation of this. 4 slices of cheese per sandwich, two lorraine swiss and 2 deli american. I margerine one side of each slice of regular old white bread and then sprinkle lightly with garlic salt. I cook over low heat until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown. It gets crispy using low heat and gives the cheese a chance to melt.

There's NOTHING better than grilled cheese! My preference is to use any good quality bread, some combination of cheddar, swiss, provolone and muenster cheese. Muenster and swiss go really well on rye. Also, I use real butter whenever possible. It adds a richness of flavor and seems to get more crisp than margarine. I'm really anxious to try the egg batter idea, though! (Fat? Bah!) :)
