This is an awesome side dish! I grilled my asparagus on a stovetop grill and used coleslaw cabbage mix for the base. We could not get enough of it!

AWESOME! I copied HIPPYJEN75 & added orange zest, only I went all the way & used all the zest from a med orange. It added a lot of orange zing but not too much...I could barely taste it before. I also used wasabi paste & when taste-testing the sauce might, thought it might be too spicy but once it's on the asparagus, it's perfect! And I used fresh ginger-in-a-tube...it's available in your produce's refrigerated section. I decreased the asparagus but not the sauce. Next time I am doubling the sauce as I expected the napa cabbage to be a garnish only but KiminNJ is right...it's excellent w/ the sauce. This will pair just as well w/ a grilled steak or chicken dinner as it will w/ asian foods. I served it w/ Honey Grilled Shrimp (from this site) & Watermelon Gazpacho (also from here). Great recipe...thansk for sharing it w/ us McCormick!

This was very good! I think next time I will kick up the wasabi a little and leave off the cabbage. It made for a good presentation, but for an easy evening meal it was unnecessary - nobody ate it anyway.

I finally found a recipe that tastes like that sauce they use at the Chinese restaurant! We found that the sauce also tastes good on red potatoes with garlic and butter.

This was very good. I blanched the asparagus and mixed the sesame oil in with the dressing. As much as I love asparagus, the best part of this recipe was the napa cabbage, which wilted slightly under the heat of the asparagus and soaked up the dressing. Delicious!

This was nice. More of a salad than a side dish.

This recipe was incredible, and everyone at our BBQ loved it. I used fresh ginger and doubled the dressing portion to make enough to marinate the asparagus for a few hours before grilling. The end result was so flavorful that I would absolutely do it again next time I made this recipe. I too left out the cabbage and just served it alone.

This recipe was really good with some minor changes. I increased the recipe by half and included whole white mushrooms with the asparagus, then grilled. I used honey instead of sugar, I used jarred ginger instead of powder and added about 1 tsp of orange zest. The only thing I will do different the next time I make this is increase the orange zest, as I didn't taste as much orange as I would have liked. Thanks for posting!

I just used the asparagus and the dressing - no cabbage on hand. Definitely a great accompanyment to an asian-inspired bbq'd meal.

It was absolutely delicious! I didn’t have any sesame oil, so I sprinkled some sesame seeds and stir fried with corn oil. I also didn’t have any napa, but I will definitely get some next time. I think fresh or steamed regular cabbage will also go well with this dish instead of napa. And I would like to try with the wasabi paste like the previous reviewer says because I like “the kick,” too. Everything was super easy to make except trimming the asparagus part. Does anyone know how to do this faster and easier?

Fabulous, easy, mouth-watering recipe! The sesame oil drove me nuts because it smells so good! I just purchased an awesome Sanyo HPS-SG3 Indoor Grill and I've been grilling all week. This is the best asparagus recipe I've EVER eaten--grilled or otherwise--and I'll be serving this regularly. YUMMY!!!

This is an excellent side dish. I have made it several times - serving it along side chicken and sushi. It was a wonderful compliment, and the grilling added a nice touch. It was beautiful under a bed a purple cabbage on each plate!

I love this recipe! I always make it for company and it impressed my mother-in-law!!! I make it exactly how the recipe states. This is also my first recipe using Wasabi Powder, I always like trying new ingredients!

I garnished the dish with some orange zests to give a zestful taste for the dish. Great recipe, my Japanese fiance liked it very much and asked for the recipe to be sent to his mum in Japan.

It wasn't bad, but the orange-wasabi dressing was uninspiring. I was expecting an interesting blend of contrasting flavors and it just wasn't there for me. It was not too different from eating plain roasted asparagus. I don't think I'll try it again.
