This was awesome. I have to admit that at first I was a bit afraid that the sauce was going to be too overpowering, but I did add the couple of teaspoons of brown sugar, too. But this turned out AMAZING! My hubby and very finicky kids loved it, too.
After I marinated the chicken I made another batch of the sauce with a bit more brown sugar and leaving out the ginger and garlic. I put the ginger and garlic in a skillet and sauted that then put in about four or five tsp of the rest of the sauce. I then stir fried red and green peppers, mushrooms, celery, and onion. I put a few tsp of corn starch in the rest of the sauce then poured it over the veggies and finished cooking. I cooked them until a bit brown and carmelized (I like it this way). I served this and the chicken with rice and yum, yum, yum!
