Incredible! Loved every delicious bite. I had purchased the greens at the farmer's market and substituted ramps (wild leeks) for the red onion. I also did as another reviewer suggested and served it over boiled potatoes and the juicy chicken from this site. There was complete silence at the dinner table because everyone was eating and enjoying instead of talking. LOVED this dish! Thank you for sharing.

My mother is of German descent and remembers many of the Traditional German dishes her mother and grandmothers cooked in rural Pennsylvania. We recently had a Traditional German Feast with my husband's German family and this dressing was a big hit. It takes a bit of patience and a Whisk is a must! I am terrible about measuring ingredients and claim to be a Chemist not a Cook! So I added a bit of salt and pepper and garlic to perk up this otherwise bland dressing. German food is typically bland, so know that going in! I also added a bit more bacon grease and apple cider vinegar to perk it up a notch, but it was overall very true to the German recipe and tradition, all the Germs at my gathering loved it!

Too vinegary tasting. I wouldn't make again. Too thick also

I haven't tried this yet, but it's close to what I am looking for. Back home in Pennsylvania the Amish have a recipe called Wilted Lettuce with PA Dutch Bacon Dressing. Its very similar to this recipe, but is served on a bed of lettuce, boiled potatoes and the dressing on top. I am going to try this with a frew variations that I remember and will write back to let everyone know.

I thought the flavors of this were very good (how could they not be with so much bacon)?! I did not find it overly vinegary. I followed the directions exactly, but my dressing congealed on the salad a little bit even though my spinach was room temperature. Also, this probably isn't the best dish for picky eaters.

Great Recipe and a nice change for a salad dish. Pairs wonderfully with the Juicy Chicken Recipe.

This was alright. I thought it had a little too much of a vinegar taste though. My husband was skeptical at first, but once he tried itm he conceded that it was pretty good.

Perfect! I followed the instructions exactly, and everyone at my get-together raved about the dressing... Very good, very simple. You can make it ahead.. I cooked the bacon in the morning, diced it, and reserved the fat for later. It was fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this recipe and will make it again and again...

I enjoyed this with dandelion greens, celery, tomato, red onion, and avacado salad. It was super easy to make and not too salty or sweet.

Wonderful recipe!! Even the kids loved it! Make sure that your "greens" are room temperature. Serving over very cold salad can make the dressing thicken to a strange gelatin like consistency. I grew up in Wisconsin and this was often served over spinach. I've tried many Hot Bacon Dressing recipes and this one seems closest to what I remember as a child. Thank you for sharing this recipe!!
