I should have expected it from the title, but it was an unpleasant green color. It tasted GREAT, but the color was a bit offputting. Next time, I will just do what I usually do when I make baked eggs with spinach and keep the leaves whole to avoid the color issue. Also, I think a bit of garlic powder, touch of salt and pepper would improve this recipe. Overall, though, a keeper.
Not very good. Husband and kids wouldn't eat it. I made it as written. It was easy though.
This was absolutely fabulous. I did make a few changes though. Instead of blending everything, I just chopped the spinach and whisked it all together; I like the texture of seperate ingredients rather than all the same. I also substituted chicken breast for the ham. Lower calories, and my kids prefer chicken to ham anyway. I also used a round pie plate rather than a 9x13 pan; it takes significantly longer to bake this way, so modify your cooking times appropriately. Another great recipe!!
I wasn't sure about this at first, but the taste only gets better as it sits! I had only a tiny bit of spinach, so I added some cooked chopped broccoli. I also added some garlic to the onions, which I cooked in a little butter, before mixing with the broccoli/spinach. I mixed the baking mix, milk and eggs separately and then stirred everything together, so as to get a more chunky texture. Added the ham and cheese on top of the 9 x 9 glass dish. I cooked it 35 mins @ 325 and an additional 15 mins @ 350 because it was totally jiggly!
Green eggs and ham came out all runny. I do not like them Moneypenny. I would not eat them with some changes. I would not eat them cooked on ranges. I would not eat them with thyme or garlic. Never mind that yucky Bisquick. The thought of this fills me with dread. Try the Spinach Quiche instead.
This recipe is a keeper. Very easy to make-- I just put everything through my food processer and poured into the pan. My young children (The most honest of critics) asked for 2nds and 3rds. I think it needs a bit of spicing up for the adults, but overall a great, easy family dish.
I made this today for breakfast. It was really awesome. I could tell by the amount of ingredients that this recipe would NOT fit in a standard pie dish so I put mine in a 9"'x9" glass pan. I also added 2 extra eggs because after all...it was breakfast :) I made the baking mix ingredients and poured it in the pan then layered the rest of ingredients. I cooked the onion with a little green pepper and put that in as a layer as well. 325 for 45 min. - BF and I loved it!
This was really yummy. I do think the next time I will cook it a bit longer as I like mine a little more set.
