Green Beans With Mustard Cream Sauce and Toasted Almonds is my answer to classic green bean casserole. The vegetables and sauce can be made in the morning. Before serving, heat them together and sprinkle with almonds.

Steamed green beans tossed with butter, lemon zest, lemon juice and toasted walnuts. This is excellent with asparagus also. Pecans can be substituted for walnuts. 

Green Beans with Blue Cheese

My sister-in-law gave me this great, simple recipe. Green beans are sauteed in bacon fat, then tossed with toasted nuts and crumbled blue cheese. Very rich and quite fattening, but great for holidays!
