Green Bean Bundles
SUBMITTED BY:
Virginia Stadler
"I found this recipe in a rural newspaper years ago and have made it often. The bean bundles are excellent with chicken or beef. Sometimes I'll arrange them around a mound of wild rice to make an appetizing side dish."

I didn't end up making this as a bundle. I followed the recipe & then added my bacon as crumbles. My husband loves these beans!! Will make them often for him.

First, the presentation is superb w/this! I want to love it, but it just wasn't quite right, I think because I didn't quite get "crisp tender". I think I would like it a little more if the beans were sauteed w/the onion mixture, then bundled and baked. I really enjoyed the onion saute flavor, but I didn't really get a sense of it in the beans. I will def try again! UPDATE: This time, I added the beans to the sauted onions and let them soak up the flavors, then I bundled and baked them. I liked them a lot better this way; they were more flavorful and didn't lose that great sauce!

This was delicious. I sauted my onions in stock to cut back on the calories and then added in everything else.. the green beans, sauted just a little bit. Then I wrapped everything up and roasted. Just terrific.

Awesome. I didn't bundle them, I followed the directions but then tossed everything together and then added crumbled bacon. Extremely good.

This is an elegant and easy way to serve green beans. It took a little more prep than traditional green beans but it had wonderful presentation for guests. I will definitely make this again for visitors.

I made these for Thanksgiving and they were great. The sauce really is the best part! I did not cook the beans long enough though, so they were very crunchy. Next time will need to cook them until they are almost done and then put them in the oven.

Okay, I messed with this and should not have changed anything. . . I'll make again following the directions - I know it will be a 5*. ***UPDATE*** I made this again without messing with the original recipe - it will now be a frequent dish on my table - oh so good! We like to bake it a little longer for crispy bacon.
