A dash of apple juice adds a little sweetness, while a bit of apple cider adds a pleasing tartness to this simple and hearty one-pan meal of sauteed pork chops, simmered with sauerkraut and onions. Sweet or tart is up to you, but caraway seeds are a must!

This is a recipe that is similar to my Pennsylvania Dutch grandmother's but was modified by me. She used a pressure cooker but I prefer the crock pot. I always serve this with a side of mashed potatoes and applesauce to accompany it.

Uncomplicated little pork balls simmer in sauerkraut for a satisfying meal from the old country. Make this on the stove or get out your slow cooker.

My mother made this dish years ago, when she was a young girl living in Germany. Later on, she continued to make it for our family. Today when I cook it, the wonderful aroma of sauerkraut fills the house, bringing back many warm memories for me. Mother usually served plain boiled potatoes with this dish, but for a special treat she'd serve steamed dumplings.

This is the traditional New Year's Day meal I learned from my husband, whose family originated in central Pennsylvania. It's wonderful, especially served with mashed potatoes and applesauce.

What could be more effortless than pork, sauerkraut and a handful of caraway seeds cooked for hours until you just can't wait any longer? At least you'll have time to set the table for this hearty, down home meal.

There are no canned soups in this masterpiece. This is my Grandma's recipe that she gave me when I got married. Pork chops are baked then served with a rich mushroom sauce. It takes a little bit of work, but is great for a special dinner - my husband loves it!
