Nice to have in a pinch and lends themselves well to additions. To note the comments about the cookies being sticky, check the size of the eggs that are being used. Many older recipes were not designed for jumbo or large eggs and on humid days cut back on the water by a tablespoon, you can always add more.

Flavor was more than 5 stars. What I had a problem with was the dough. It was soooo sticky. Roll them?? No way! They stuck to everything. I refrigerated the dough overnight & still couldn't roll them without making a mess. I did my best (even adding in extra flour-no help) & baked them-they were incredibly great cookies just need to figure out that sticky/wet issue. Maybe leave out the water??

Very good..I added 2 more cups of flour and didn't chill it. I also added 1/2 cup coconut and a package of chocolate chips. I also didn't add the cream of tartar I didn't have any.

I made these last weekend and have gotten rave reviews! The 1 thing I did different was I added some semi-sweet chips and some coconut. I'm sure I will make them often, thank you!
