I've made this three times in one week - it's that good. My husband says this is the best cornbread he's ever had. I didn't change anything in this recipe and don't ever plan to - it's perfect. This will become a staple in my house. Thanks so much for posting it!

This cornbread is great! It is super moist and a bit sweet. Perfect with honey on top. I followed the instructions added in the comments by the recipe's author but had to alter my baking time to be only about 25 minutes. Be careful not to overcook or you may lose the moistness which really makes this cornbread worth it. Very good!

I have made this recipe 7 times in the last 2 weeks. Enough said. We love it. I even used an ear of fresh corn in a double batch and it turned out delicious and superbly moist. A very hearty cornbread.

best cornbread we've ever had! but I would suggest melting the butter in a large microwave-safe bowl in the microwave, and then adding the ingredients from there. save a pan! thanks for sharing this great recipe!

This is a great recipe. The cornbread was moist, sweet (but not too sweet) and full of flavor. It also held together well - not crumbly at all. I didn't have buttermilk, but the commonly used substitute of milk and a Tbsp of lemon juice did the trick. I also baked it in a cast iron pot which let it brown nicely.

This is good cornbread. I will never buy a mix again, thats for sure. I made a double batch and added a well drained can of corn. I also made the bread into corn shaped muffins using preheated cast iron to give the outside a bit of crust. Yummy! I think we will be eating corn bread more often

My advice, "Double it!" This is a recipe the kids will love! I doubled the batch, made one bread a bit smaller than the second and oh my, how beautiful was the larger (i.e. higher) one! The best part was the taste! Phenomenal! I like this recipe with or without the sugar depending on my mood. If you like yours sweet, go all the way with the sugar. If you don't like sweet cornbread, leave it out - you can't go wrong. Awesome either way! Funny story...only had grits last night and no cornmeal. Put it through the coffee grinder, substituted and out came the most delicious cornbread and no one had the slightest idea. I live in Spain where we make do with what we have. Delicious! I will look no further. I have found the perfect cornbread recipe! THANKS!

What an amazing recipe! It's not dry, it's sweet and so tasty! I melted the butter in a cast iron pan, then added the sugar and eggs. I mixed the rest of the ingredients in a bowl then mixed everything together - right in the pa - then placed it in the over. PERFECTION! I should also add that I threw in a handful of frozen corn and used medium coarse corn meal which gave it a nice texture. A keeper.

This was an excellent recipe for sweet cornbread. I am partial to less sweet, more butterery breads but my family loved this. I will definitely make this again, maybe with a few tweaks.

Oh my gosh, I've been looking for so long for a cornbread recipe like this one!! It's wonderful, we made NO changes. Had a few pieces leftover and they were even better the next day. (Stored them in a ziplock bag and believe it or not they seemed even moister!)
