A bit too much sugar, but otherwise quite a nice and simple soup.

really good and simple. i skipped the sugar too as i have vine ripened tomatoes. added some fresh basil, garlic, onion, and celery salt. i also used milk instead of water for a creamy version. nice basic recipe, thanks!

Most important, this is EASY! I love the taste of butter but don't like all the sat. fat so I used Smart Balance 50/50. I used reduced sodium tomato juice and didn't add the noodles. It's also good sprinkled with a little freshly grated parmesan cheese and little strips of basil. YUM!

Hmmm - magic! never thought you could take plain ol'tomato juice and turn it into something that tastes like but is better (health-wise) than canned tomato soup - AND SO EASY................... Dropped it from 2 to 1 TBSP of sugar and used more water (as I cooked noodles in soup rather than prior in water).

I thought I would have to come on here and warn everyone against using Clamato juice for this recipe, but surprisingly, this soup worked extremely well with the tomato clam cocktail!!!

great recipe and very flexible too! i used v8 and omitted the salt since it was already in the can, as well as the sugar. I added dry parsley and basil leaves, and ground black pepper because it was a bit bland before. I also added some chili powder to give it some heat. Another thing I did was add fresh tomatoes, and used half water and half milk to make it more rich..and it came out just wonderful.

Oh yeah, baby...luv this soup; thank you Miss Gerri! So simple and yet so tasty. You can noodle (excuse the pun!) around with it too. Add any ole' kind of pasta (rosemarina would be good)or rice would be good. And as with one reader, I used cream instead of the water. Great if you like a cream soup and hang the calories! Also knocked the sugar down to one T. as did some others.

WOW!!! Love how a simple recipe makes something so delicious!! I wanted to use up some whipping cream that I had in the refrigerator, and so that's what I used instead of water; I also added a pinch of red pepper flakes. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. I served this soup along with grilled cheese sandwiches, and my husband just loved it. So did I!

This recipe made me a star with my family! I've stopped buying condensed soup and one day we all wanted grilled cheese and tomato soup. I whipped this up (without the noodles) in no time and everyone loved it. Next time I'll use olive oil instead of butter to use a healthier fat.

Good, I made the recipe as is. A little too sweet for my taste, so next time, I'd probably cut the sugar down to 1 Tbsp.

This was so yummy. I used 8 oz can of tomato sauce and 1-1/4 c water (total) and cut the sugar to 1T. Will definitely make this again--and I won't be buying the canned stuff anymore!

This is great! Nearly as easy as opening a can of the condensed stuff, but much better and tastier. I also substituted milk for the water in the recipe. Excellent lunch with a grilled cheese sandwich and fresh fruit. Thanks! I will definitely make this again.

This is great. The first time I made it, I didn't even have the tomatoe juice, so I used Bloody Mary Mix..Fantastic. It was so good I only got to taste it as it was eaten quickly by others. I have made it since and it is simply a great recipe with or without the addition of the egg noodles. I serve it both ways. I even use Splenda instead of the sugar. No one even notices..

This was SO good and SO easy .. real comfort food on a cold January night. Wonderful with Toasted Tuna sandwiches ... I'll be making this often. The noodles were an interesting addition. I made it exactly as written, except I doubled it so I'd have leftovers for lunch ...

This recipe was exactly what I was looking for. I am not a huge fan of tomato soup, but my husband loves it. This recipe made us both happy. I followed the recipe exactly besides tripling it and it was wonderful. Thank you for the tomato soup recipe that makes my whole family happy!
