Only use half the amount of sugar called for, and you have an easy, excellent tasting tomato soup. Comfort food at its best.

I love this tomato soup. I used to hate tomato soup til I made this! I only gave it 4 stars because I add basil to the soup to make it tomato/basil. I can't believe how simple this recipe is and yet it tastes so good.

Yummy and easy...I substituted milk for the water and used V8 juice. We put Asiago croutons and grated cheese on top. I will be making it again!

Woah! This is simple, and tastes yummy! I am very happy with this recipe. I used pureed tomatoes instead (because I didn't have juice on hand), but still fantastic!

Absolutely delicious. It's easy, flexible, and tasty. What more could you want from a soup? I personally added pepper and reduced the sugar, but you can play around with the ingredients to suit your dietary tastes/needs. I just had my wisdom teeth taken out so this recipe has come in handy. Thank you for posting!

I used Rold Gold Vegetable juice. I'm looking to cut down on sodium and fat so I cut the butter in half and didn't use salt. I left everything else the same. The soup turned out good and think, just right for the family. Everyone loved it. It's a definite keeper! Thanks Gerri! :)

I looked up this recipe after realizing that I was out of the condensed tomato soup we usually use. Although I did not have tomato juice on hand, I substituted a can of tomato sauce, and it came out beautifully-- very rich and flavorful! I think I will ditch the old canned soup and use this recipe from now on! Thanks!!!

YUM. It was a little bit sweet - but I paired it with a grilled cheese stuffed with onions, jalapenos, and tomatoes - so it was perfect. Loved the idea of noodles in it - haven't ever had it that way before. I followed the directions exactly.

I only used 1 TBS of sugar like others suggested, and it was a good call. Very tasty and no lumps. I also thickened it up just a touch more with a little cornstarch and water.

I didn't add any salt (the juice I used was already quite salty), but otherwise followed it exactly. It was great! It was a little too sweet for my taste, but I'll just use a bit less sugar.

Fantastic. I just made this on a whim, and couldn't be happier that I did so. It was simple and fast to make, and has a richer, fuller-bodied taste than the kind you get in the can. Some reviewers didn't care for the sweetness, and I thought I wouldn't either, but was pleasantly surprised by how much it added to the overall taste. I made a pepperjack-chedder grilled cheese sandwich to go with it(omitting the noodles)and the mild sweetness was a nice answer to the salt and spice of the sandwich.

WOW, tastes just like Campbell's only without the additives--and it's almost as easy! I used fresh juice (6 medium tomatoes), so I omitted the water and used only 2 tsp sugar, and increased the salt to 1/2 tsp. I omitted the noodles because I was serving it with grilled cheese, and it was absolutely perfect. As another reviewer mentioned, this is comfort food indeed!

I was skeptical. How could something with so few and so simple ingredients taste great. It was soooo good. It was comfort food indeed. Usually I spice things up but it is more comfort food this way. It is simple and it tastes simple but was really good that way! Thanks

Most important, this is EASY! I love the taste of butter but don't like all the sat. fat so I used Smart Balance 50/50. I used reduced sodium tomato juice and didn't add the noodles. It's also good sprinkled with a little freshly grated parmesan cheese and little strips of basil. YUM!

Hmmm - magic! never thought you could take plain ol'tomato juice and turn it into something that tastes like but is better (health-wise) than canned tomato soup - AND SO EASY................... Dropped it from 2 to 1 TBSP of sugar and used more water (as I cooked noodles in soup rather than prior in water).

I thought I would have to come on here and warn everyone against using Clamato juice for this recipe, but surprisingly, this soup worked extremely well with the tomato clam cocktail!!!
