One of the best Sloppy Joe recipes I've ever come across. You make this, you'll never figure out why you ever ate that canned stuff !!

I THOUGHT THESE WERE PRETTY GOOD....I DID CUT BACK ON THE CLOVES AND I DID NOT HAVE BROWN SUGAR SO I USED A LITTLE BIT OF MOLASSES.

I started making this before I realized that I didn't have enough ketchup so I substituted 1/3 cup of barbeque sauce for the missing ketchup. Then I realized I didn't have regular vinegar, so I had to use red wine vinegar. My family absolutely LOVED this recipe! I'd like to try it with regular vinegar, but I think I'll keep using a little bbq sauce with the ketchup. Fantastic!!

I have to say this satisfied the craving and was easy to make. The best part though, was that I had ALL the ingridients at home, so no trip to the store!!!! I really liked it, and I will use it often!!!

I decreased the cloves and vinegar to about half of what's shown, doubled the brown sugar and my family absolutely loves it.

I made this for a party. Needless to say not many people liked it. It had a very strong clove taste.

Tasted great, but not quite worth the trouble to me. For me, I'd rather just throw some canned sauce in with the meat. But for those that enjoy making things from scratch this is the recipe for you.

This was just not for us. I will use this recipe as a base, use 1/2 cup onion, 1/2 cup bell peppers, add 1 can of green chili peppers, and replace the cloves with garlic powder.

I love this recipe and have made it many times. I, too, reduce the amount of cloves in the recipe, but that's the only change I make.

Sloppy Joe's have never been one of my favorite foods, but I really did like this recipe. I made it for a party and received many compliments. I tripled the recipe but did decrease the onion, pepper, vinegar and clove measurements-which other reviews suggested. I will make this again!

After looking at all the sloppy joe recipes at this site last night, I choose this one. I usually like the flavor of cloves, but sorry this recipe just does not work. Save yourself the time and try another recipe!

I followed the recipe precisely and didnt really care for the result. I was drawn to it because of the cloves but since there were several other recipes for sloppy joes, I'll try one of those next time.

I do NOT like sloppy joes, as a rule. However, we have had this twice since I copied it off. If I make too much, it is great for leftovers. Thanks "Grandma."

This was really good, although I omitted the peppers. Perfect if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, fast, and easy.

While I liked ths recipe, I thought there was too much clove. I only put in a 1/4 tsp. like other readers did, but next time I'll put in an 1/8. I also added some petite diced tomatoes, with the juice drained.

I tried this recipe and it just wasn't to my liking. The Cloves was so powerful and the onion and bell pepper was just too much.

These were good sandwiches, but next time I will use maybe 1/4 of the cloves and half of the green peppers.
