This has got to be one of the BEST recipe I've made thus far. The only two minor changes that I made was I used FRESH green beans (par-boiled) & then once the green beans were coated with the ingredients from the skillet, I transferred it all into a bowl and mixed in the two cups of cheddar cheese--this allowed for a nice cheesy goodness with EVERY bite! The buttery cracker crust is definitely a heavenly touch. My family went to bed fantasizing about this particular dish, just to wake up and have it for breakfast the next morning--this was the ONLY reason they didn't finish off during Thanksgiving dinner....enjoy!

I brought this dish over to my family's for Thanksgiving. It was a hit. I even got a message that my sister-in-law was dreaming about it and wanted me to come over to make it! I will make this again!!!!

I actually made this dish twice…pre Turkey Day test. Family said it needed something. So second time around I used 2 bags of frozen French style green beans, additional seasoning - garlic salt and mixed 1 can of Durkee Fried onions with the cheddar cheese. Made the day before so it was ready to pop in the oven. Served 10 and was delish. Will definitely make this again.

Great alternative for people like me who don't care for the mushroom soup version. I've made it a few times and have found that if the onions are diced small enough they will cook and soften in the oven. I also like to use an extra can of beans and only about a cup of cheese. A sprinkling of paprika on top before baking gives the topping a really nice golden color.

followed hints from reviewers, sauteed onions till soft before adding flour and added about a cup of cheese to green bean mixture in addition to cheese called for. also added about 2 tbsp of minced garlic and about a tsp of crushed red pepper flakes to onions while sauteeing. WONDERFUL!

MMMMMMMM! This was so good! I encorporated some of the other reviewers comments, sauteing the onions in butter to soften and halfing the flower. I mixed 1/2 of the cheese in with the green beans along with 1/2 a can of French's Fried Onions. Then I added the rest of the fried onions in with the butter cracker topping. So good and got rave reviews! I would have given the final version 5 stars, but as written it's a 4.

BEST...THANKSGIVING...SIDE...EVER!!! I did as others suggested and mixed 1/2 the cheese and some French's Fried Onions in with fresh green beans. I also put some of the Fried Onions on top. Can't wait for Christmas. Won't ever touch the other green bean casserole again!

When I was asked to bring the green bean casserole for Thanksgiving I cringed! Not being a fan of the mushroom soup version I was thrilled to find this recipe. Only made minor changes and some extra seasonings. It was a hit! I plan on taking it to my husband's family Thanksgiving on Sunday!

I made this for my family last year for thanksgiving and they loved it.The only thing I changed was adding panko breaded onion rings instead of 1/4 diced onions. In addition to, I added a small can diced mushrooms and mixed it in with the sour cream.

Very good! I thawed frozen green bean instead of canned, and did half french onion topping and half cracker topping...both were good. Will definately make again.

I always hated green bean casserole, I disliked the cream of mushroom and it always seemed bland to me. I found this recipe and was quite thrilled! Made exactly as shown, not a big fan of onions so I just saute'd them first to make sure they would be well cooked. Came out great and everyone says they prefer it over the 'old skool' version! thank you Grandma!

Doubled the cheese. I was concerned about the reviews that mentioned the strong sour cream flavor so I threw in about 2 C of cheese into the bean mixture and then another 2 C ontop. Other then that followed the recipe exactly and got nothing but rave reviews. I'm not an onion fan and was worried about them not cooking enough. Chopped them fairly small and it was perfect.

This was phenomenal, I ate less stuffing so that I could eat EXTRA VEGGIES! Yum! The only thing I changed was on half of the dish I did the crispy onions on top and I preferred that half over the cracker side. They added flavor dimension and extra texture as well. Everyone RAVED!

This was just ok. It looked great, but lacked much flavor. If I had it to do over again, I would add more onion or put french fried onions on top instead of the crackers. However, I won't do it over because I'll be going back to the tried-and-true Campbell's soup recipe.
