Way better than Campbell's version. Will never use another recipe for GB casserole again. I lightly cooked the onions and prepared the dish minus the topping the night before Thanksgiving. Everyone raved on how much better this one is! Thanks so much!

Very good alternative to the traditional green bean casserole. I reduced the amt of the sour cream that the recipe calls for and I sauteed the onions in the butter before adding the flour. I also mixed in the onion topping with the butter crackers.

I usually make the regular green bean casserole but tried this one for Thanksgiving and it was a hit. This has so much more flavor and the topping is really tasty.

Best Green Bean Casserole I have had. Husband thought it had too much of a sour cream taste, so next time I might tone down on the sour cream.

This was okay. I followed the directions, and it definitely was edible - but I think I prefer the "cream of mushroom soup" kind. Seems to have more flavor to me. Although if you have mushrooms, this is the recipe for you!

I made this recipe for Thanksgiving, exactly as it is written. It was very easy to make. But the sour cream flavor is fairly dominant, so just make sure your green bean eaters like sour cream ahead of time! We ended up throwing out the leftovers.

This was a great recipe! I used a 13x9 pan and it cut the cooking time down by 10 minutes and it made a nice thick layer of cheese on top.

This was delicious! Was ready for a change from the usual green bean casserole for Thanksgiving and gave this a try, this is my new green bean casserole recipe.

eh. i used canned green beans - i know, it would be better with real, but it just wasn't that great - kinda mushy and very bland... but i've never had a GREAT green bean casserole.

This is an awesome alternative to the standard green bean casserole we usually have at Thanksgiving. Even our 2-year-old son ate it! Will definitely be making this again. Thanks for sharing!

Good, I added some garlic powder, next time I'd probably add a minced clove of garlic. It was good, it just seemed to be missing something on the seasoning side.

This was a great alternative to the classic (yet unappealing) campbell's green bean casserole. I thought the sauce mixture blended well with the green beans without giving the the over-salted instant casserole flavor you get with cream of mushroom soup. I think two cups of cheese is a little excessive for this (adding that much cheese to a casserole this small just means there's a lack of flavor and the dish needs cheese to cover it up) and would recommend doubling it if you want to feed ten people with it. A good modification would be to omit the cheese on top and only include maybe 3/4 c. in the filling.

This was so super yummy. I put my own spin on it by adding garlic powder and carmelized the onions before adding to the mix. It was gone the day after Thanksgiving! Really is so much better then the canned soup version! You must try you will not regret!

MIL asked me to bring the greenbean casserole for Thanksgiving, so I thought I'd give this a try. I read the other reviews, and made a few modifications...mixed in a cup of the cheese with the beans and sour cream...sauteed the onion and a handful of chopped baby portabellos...mixed crushed ritz with some french fried onions for the topping...and it was a huge hit! All the family loved it, said they want it for Christmas dinner too! Oh, and I made the casserole on Tuesday night, without baking, stuck it the fridge till thursday and baked it 35 minutes, it was great! I give the recipe 5 stars, even with my modifications, because without the base recipe, I'd have had nothing to play with!

Everyone really liked it. I used fresh green beans, should have kept them crisper before I baked it. Also should have put something crispy on top after.

Delicious!! I made this for Thanksgiving and got my dad and brother to actually eat veggies! I followed the recommendations of previous reviewers and reduced the sour cream to 3/4 C, reduced the salt to 1/2 tsp, added black pepper, powered garlic, and mixed half the cheese (1 C) into the beans. I probably didn't need any salt as the cheese was salty enough. Also next time I might add some half and half to the beans since it was a little too thick and not really "saucy" but still so good. Definitely a new family favorite!

Nope didn't like this, sorry. Onion way too strong for me, as was the sour cream. Sounded really good, though.
