This is my 2nd review - I couldn't figure out how to edit the first. Using fresh green beans, I cooked them for 8-10 minutes. Guests thought they were good but commented (and I agreed) that they could have been a little more saucy. Consider using 1.5C sour cream, even mixed with a tiny bit of chicken broth.

I thought this was pretty good. I made it for a friend's Thanksgiving get-together and I will say that someone specifically asked, "Who made the green bean casserole? That was great!" The sour cream adds a "tangy" taste. I used the crackers, but I agree the friend onions would probably taste better. I also sauteed the onions and didn't add as much cheese which were suggestions by others. I might make it again...or might just make the traditional recipe. This one is nice when you are looking for something different.

This was so good it should be illegal! I made a double batch and there weren't any leftovers. It was super easy to make and a great change from the regular green bean casserole.

This is QUITE tasty! (I only gave it 4 stars because I changed it from its original recipe.) I served it at a potluck at my church and was pleasantly surprised by the comments! Everyone RAVED! It is just as easy as the mushroom soup dish and yet SO MUCH MORE tasty! Definitely worth a try! (I didn't use onions because of personal preference. I mixed half the cheese in with the beans and used french fried onions instead of crackers.)

Hard to beat any of Grandma's casseroles, this one included!! :) Made this last night. The sour cream sauce is great with the cheesy layer on top. I added chopped mushrooms into the skillet with the onion mixture. Took the advice of other reviewers and used french onions on the top instead of crackers, I really think it gave it more flavor. This will replace my usual "can o soup" casserole every holiday.

This is so good. Personally, i stuck with the fried onions on top instead of the ritz crackers, but thats just my preference. Every thing else was PERFECT. This was a big hit at thanksgiving last year and i'm so excited to make it again this year.

I was so tired of the same old boring green bean casserole with mushy beans and was so excited when I came across this recipe. I have made this recipe so many times and my family loves it! I find it tastes better to use frozen whole cut green beans and I use French's french fried onions instead of crumbled crackers. mmmm and use extra cheese!
