Absolutely fabulous! I reduced the sugar a smidge and added a bit more ginger and cinnamon along with a dash of nutmeg and a dash of cloves. I'll put in a bit less sugar in the cinnamon-sugar coating next time since I like my gingersnaps with a bit more bite. These are hands-down some of the best cookies I've ever made, and I will definitely be making them often.

I have never made Ginger cookies before so this was an interesting first for me. I would have to say that they were some of the best ginger cookies that I have ever eaten and I typically like Ginger Snaps for the crunchiness. I added about 1/8 more ginger than the recipe called for and a dash more vanilla. These were a big hit with family and friends!

Grandma's recipes are always the best! This really tastes like a good old-fashioned homemade-with-love kind of cookie! I resisted the urge to add additional spices like nutmeg and cloves, which I love, and this still turned out to have a nice balance of flavor and spice. I like the idea of rolling it in cinnamon-sugar - I usually just use plain sugar, but it added a nice touch. After 30 years of baking I finally realized that a fine mesh strainer makes sifting a snap, so thankfully I no longer avoid recipes where sifting seems to be an important step.

What a wonderful recipe this is! I even goofed when I measured the shortening - and they were perfect. I can't wait to make them again using the correct proportions. These are definitely not the hard, nasty commercial gingersnaps that make many of us not like gingersnaps. These are soft and chewy and oh-so-delicious! Thank you for sharing.

These were excellent cookies - and so easy to make. They were everyone's favorite out of all the holiday cookies. Soft and chewy and full of flavor. Even the men asked for more!

First time I ever made Gingersnaps and they came out perfect, just as promised. Made a double batch with no problems. They looked so pretty that I had to take a picture to submit. They tasted wonderfully fresh for several days, until we ran out. This is an easy recipe to make with children.

Wonderful recipe. Worth the "extra" work of all the sifting back and forth. I will definitely make this again. And, I have never liked gingersnap cookies before these. Thanks...

Taste is wonderful. Cookies came out a little flat and if baked too long made great gingersnap like cookies, nice and crisp. The soft cookies were prone to harden when left out too long, also. Put away quickly in a container. We will enjoy, but I'll keep looking for a thicker softer cookie. Thanks for the good recipe.

Oh my! These really are the best gingersnap cookies I've ever tasted. I followed the recipe with one addition..a little grated fresh nutmeg. Used the pampered chef small scoop to measure and just 8 min in the oven. This is definitely a keeper!

Excellent recipe! I love spicy things so I amped up the spices and made them chocolate gingersnaps. I freshly ground up sticks of cinnamon, added 1/2 tsp. of freshly grated nutmeg, doubled the ground ginger to 2 tbsp., added 1 tablespoon of minced fresh ginger, and 1 1/2 heaping tbsp. of Dutch Processed Dark Cocoa powder. Everything else was followed. Highly recommended.

Incredibly easy, cracked and baked perfectly. The molasis and ginger flavors were well proportioned. Sometimes one cna overpower the other. This was my first time making gingersnaps and I will definitely use this recipe again.
