wow! these remind me of gingerbread cookies, except these are SO MUCH BETTER! I used all butter instead of shortening, next time I will have a little less because they were a little greasy. I didn't have molasses at home, so I mixed brown sugar with syrup and they were SO CHEWY! I have never had cookies that soft! So from now on, I will use brown sugar+syrup. Thanks for the great recipe!

These are a little greasy I think but overall good. I added a little fresh grated ginger for a little extra zing!

Excellent recipe. I add about 1/2 cup chopped crystallized ginger as well as 1-2 TBLS chopped fresh ginger to the sugar/crisco mix before adding the flour mixture.

These were delicious!!! However, my batch ended up my flatter than the accompanying photo. (I did substitute butter since I didn't have shortening on hand.) Overall, amazing though!

Not really a gingersnap in that these cookies aren't hard - but they are wonderfully soft, chewy and delicious!

These were good but they didn't have a real spicy ginger taste that I like. I think next time I will have to increase the ginger by alot for my taste. Good overall though.

I love ginger snap cookies so I was excited to try these. One plus for these, no butter. With all of my holiday baking, I've spent what feels like a small fortune on butter. These made the house smell delicious and tasted even better. They remind of the ones my babysitter made for us as kids.

Wunderbar! This is almost my Grandma's Ginger-Molasses Cookie recipe with the exception of the tablespoon of ginger, instead of a rounded teaspoon, but she never measured any way and it was just our guesstimate from watching her! Great blend of flavors, soft and chewy with a little crunch on the outside. She always told us to store them in a coffee can to help keep the freshness! Also, make sure you have fresh baking soda and ginger to make sure these cookies turn out their best. I find I have to get new ginger after 2 years! Thank you for sharing!

These cookies are obviously great --based on the five stars from most people. I think they are most definitely a five star cookie. My husband said they are the best cookies ever made. I made two batches- the first I followed the recipe exactly. The second, I added three dashes of ground cloves and one teaspoon of grated fresh ginger to the sugar/butter mixture before I added the flour. This batch was better in my opinion. It added the puch of ginger that so many recipes lack. I did use butter instead of shortening in both recipes.
