This receipe was soooooooooo easy. Very tastey. I did add a whole Rotiseire chicken from the grocery store. When it started to fall apart and pulled out and picked the chicken off and put back into the pot. It was wonderful for a snowy Maine night with a grilled cheese sandwich.

A true winner. I have been making homemade chicken noodle soup for years and this is definitely the best. I made the recipe as indicated but did use others suggestion of adding precooked chicken from the grocery store with it's juices. A true keeper and so easy.

This was great chicken soup for the 7-year-old's soul (and mom's and dad's too!!). My little boy came home not feeling so great, and this yummy soup seemed to hit the spot! I added fresh ground pepper, Tony Chachere's (I'm a Louisiana girl ... I add Tony's to everything!!), 1 cup of frozen mixed veggies and 2 cups of frozen okra.

I have made this 3x in the last month. I made it several different ways but each time using my own broth from a whole chicken.. first time with just a plain chicken and then a baked whole chicken and then with turkey. The 1st and third turned out fabulous because I also made home-made noodles instead of store bought egg noodles. WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN FLAVOR. I used as little chicken broth from the can as possible, added some sage and carrots and pretty much followed the rest of the recipe. Wonderful. I made a HUGE pot and my 2 guys ate it each time within 2 days... a family favorite!

I made this for my sick boyfriend and well, he's not sick anymore :) Really though, this is a stellar chicken noodle soup recipe - really easy to make! It makes a TON, though - only a problem if you're only cooking for two!

This is the best chicken soup I've ever made. The poultry seasoning gives it a great flavor. My husband and father both loved it.

I followed this recipe very closely it came out great. I altered the ingredients for 4 servings, and used Mrs. Dash Original instead of poultry seasonings. I also used a roasted chicken from the deli. Great flavor overall.

Love this soup! It has become a staple at my house. My only changes are to cook the pasta in the broth since that alleviates the need for corn starch and I add carrots.

I'm chuckling guessing that Grandma NEVER started her chicken soup with canned chicken broth and a rotisserie chicken! Certainly they make the recipe convenient, but hey, if you're going to make real chicken soup start with a chicken and a pot of water and make your own stock. If you're not sure how, check out the Boiled Chicken recipe elsewhere on this site. Not only will you have wonderful, flavorful broth to start with, but you can easily control the salt, seasonings, and fat. Granted, it will take you longer...you need to make your chicken stock a day or so ahead and let it chill to skim the fat away, but it will give you a great start to this recipe. Otherwise, the soup recipe is wonderful! Just add some other vegetables if you wish, adjust the salt and seasonings to suit your own tastes, and you can't go wrong! Aren't Grandma's recipes always best?

First of all, thanks for posting this recipe, my boyfriend said I am long-term material because I can make a soup like this! I made some alterations and simplified it, though and it turned out great. I did not use any seasoning aside from black pepper. Used 3/4 chicken broth and 1/4 water with celery, onions, shell pasta, and chicken thighs. For the chicken thighs, I flash boiled them (approx 1 min) to remove any dirt / oil. After the broth begins to boil, I put in the veggies, and put in the pasta / cleaned chicken thigh cubes when the broth reboils again. Very flavorful and took me less than an hour to make.

Good but in my opinion you can't make chicken soup without carrots and definitely a bay leaf or two. They add the depth of flavor that this is missing.

I made this for my fiance last night because he had a cold. I actually had everything on except the celery. I cut the servings down to 6 and used angel hair pasta instead of the egg noodles. I just broke the pasta into 4 pieces before boiling. This came out nicely and I will definitely make this again.

This recipe is a good start. I used whole wheat wide egg noodles, large dash of black pepper, low sodium chicken broth, and 1 cup thinly sliced carrots. Also boiled un-cooked chicken in water for 25-40 min (length depending on how thick the chicken is) After chicken is cool shred and add to soup to warm.
