Grandma's Blackberry Cobbler

Directions

  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Whisk 1 1/2 cups sugar, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt together in a small bowl; set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour with 1 1/2 cups sugar, baking powder, and another pinch of salt. Mix in the softened butter until the mixture resembles cornmeal, then stir in the milk until moistened. Spread the blackberries into a 9x13-inch baking dish, and spoon the batter evenly over top. Sprinkle with the cornstarch mixture, then pour the boiling water over top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until the mixture is bubbly, and the topping is golden brown, 40 to 45 minutes.

When I made this recipe it was runny and very sweet. I prefer a more dense topping with a little tartness.

Almost as good as my grandmothers.I think what made hers so good is she went to the blackberry patch. Every summer when I showed up I knew my grandfather would drive us out to the woods to pick the blackberrys.To this day there my fav.fruit and fav.desert.Iris Lady

I just made this, but I did use 3 cups of berries and 1 cup less of the boiling water and it turned out great !!!!! Will make this again

This was perfect. Made both BlackBerry and peach. Did not use cornstarch and it was just perfect
