I baked this in three 9 inch pans and they looked beautiful. However, I wasn't pleased at all with the taste or texture. The cake was dry, hard and spongy (I followed the recipe exactly so I don't know if some people just prefer this type of sponge cake or not, but I didn't like it). The icing was good, but separated on me (too much butter in my opinion). While not in edible it wasn't the delicious cake I was expecting based on the other reviews unfortunately. On top of that the cake is very labor intensive. I would not make again.

Excellent! My cakes fit perfectly in two cake pans. I also did not cut the layers in half (they were too spongey to cut with a thread.) Otherwise I followed the directions exactly. Everyone loved this cake!

This was my first homemade cake from scratch, and it was fantastic! Fluffy and deliciously chocolaty. Made it for our restaurant group's office party, and even the corporate chef loved it! Talk about a great review. I've already been asked to bake this cake again for the next birthday. Would definitely recommend this recipe. It was a snap (although without a kitchen aid, I'd imagine you'll suffer a very sore arm)!

Wow! Really good. I made this for my daughter's birthday party and everyone loved it. I made it in the 3 pans as directed, but opted not to cut those in half. The frosting was so good that it is now my frosting of choice for anything that needs chocolate on top. :)Will definitely make again. Thanks for the great recipe.
