This is a wonderful recipe. I baked for Christmas Dinner. I usually make dinner rolls but opted for loaves this time. This was a perfect recipe. It was very easy and not as time consuming as dinner rolls. I will take others suggestions and try adding cheese and herbs next time.

I used this recipe and made 2 big loafs, and 6 mini loafs of bread. I also adapted it, and added cheese & seasonings. No matter which way you bake it, its good!

I just made this recipe and the dough was marvelous to work with. The texture and the taste are very good. We had it with homemade beef stew and it held up for the last "dip into the bowl". What a wonderful recipe to share with others to remember your grandma with! This is a keeper and one that I will pass along to my 4 daughters.

A great white bread. What I did---I halved the recipe, using only 2 teaspoons of yeast and added 1/4 cup dry powdered milk and made it in my bread machine on the dough cycle. It made 1 loaf of bread and 9 nice sized rolls. YUMMY!!!!

Very tasty bread. Everyone in my family loved it. I made only one loaf. I used 3/4 cup water, 2 cups bread flour, 3 tsp yeast, 3/4 tsp salt, 1.2 tablespoon vegetable oil (canola & soybean oil), and just a little less than a tablespoon white sugar. It came out perfect. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I love your grandma.

Okay taste, but did not rise well and came out "squished" down. Maybe I could have added more yeast? I wont make this recipe again since it didn't turn out and I never have problems making bread!

I made only one loaf and had great results even though my pan was too large. Total rising time was about 3 hours; kneading took about 10 min. The bread is slightly sweet and might be mistaken for an egg bread. Take the loaf out the pan toward the end and the crust will crisp up a bit. Delicious!

Wow, this is an impressive loaf of bread. I only have two loaf pans, so I used one packet of yeast and around 4 or 5 total cups of flour. Turned out lovely and moist, with a great crust. My boyfriend thinks im a superstar, if only he knew how simple this bread was. Oh, as a hint, I let my bread rise in a dry dishwasher with a pot of hot water, works quick!

Oh My!! This is a very good recipe. I love to bake bread and hate it when it comes out dense, not so with this one! Nice and light dough, soft chewy crust! I ended up using 4 packets of Rapid Rise Yeast because that's all I had. All purpose flour worked fine as well. I let it rise for an hour in between each step and the cinnamon rolls rose an extra 35 minutes while the bread baked. Made 2 nice loaves and a big batch of 18 cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing. YUM! We ate a whole loaf with Peasant soup for dinner and had a cinnamon roll for dessert! I am so full! Nice tangy taste and wonderful texture, don't miss out TRY IT!!!

I really enjoyed baking this bread, it was so easy to make and didn't take much of my time. I used only half of the recipe. When I was ready to bake it, I greased my pans with butter and lightly floured the bottoms. This is by far the best and easiest white bread that I've made. There are so many options to use this bread as well! I am thinking of using this recipe for upcoming hoildays! Thank you for sharing your Grandma's bread recipe!

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Made it yesterday. Such an easy recipe. I used 4 packs of rapid rise yeast and made it into cinnamon swirl loaves. Made the 3 loaves and kept one and gave daughter and son each one. Hubby finished ours at breakfast this morning and request that I make this more often. Daughter called and said it was fantastic. I put powdered sugar icing on loaf. Toasted and buttered it... absolutely the best bread ever. Warning though if you toast it be very careful not to touch the icing....really hurts if you do, I know!! This is now my white bread recipe.

This bread is sooo yummy! I really enjoyed it. I cut the recipe down to make just one loaf, and it turned out well. I only had a 9x5 loaf pan, and so the bread was kind of flat, but it still tasted awesome! I put some strawberry jam on it and everything. Definitely a keeper! Now I wonder if it'll go well in a bread machine. :-D
