This is my great-grandmother's recipe. It has survived four generations and is still at the top of my cut-out recipe list. The secret is to roll the dough extra thin!

Sheets of red and green butter cookie dough are rolled around each other to make a log of spiraling colors. Sliced into colorful pinwheels, these heirloom cookies are the perfect holiday treat. They can also be made in a chocolate-vanilla pinwheel variation.

An inherited recipe, these buttery hazelnut cookies are a snap to make and simple to bake. Prepare the dough and refrigerate as a log, then slice into rounds, decorate with candy sprinkles, and bake. Easy!

Grandma Tibbitts Sugar Cookies

This recipe was handed down from my great grandmother. It took a few years to figure out the exact measures. These cookies are very soft and if you want to use a cutter, the dough should be refrigerated a couple hours. I use a three inch biscuit cutter. You can also drop these if you are short on time. Sprinkle tops with colored sugar or whatever decorative confection you like. These are good plain also.

Polish Christmas Cookies

My mother in law has a polish name for these but my husband and brothers always just called them "Polish Christmas Cookies". They are very easy to make and have a nice anise flavor to them.

This is a recipe for classic sugar cookies. Get creative and make or cut fun shapes, and use colored sugar, if desired.
