Very Good. I wish that I would have cut the apples up more than just slice them. The vanilla sauce to top the pudding seemed a bit runny. Still very tasty.

Made the recipe as described, but next time, I'll cut down on my use of bowls and pans a little. Didn't have a 7x11 baking dish, but used a 7x9 instead. In my opinion, it turned out just as good. The bread sitting in the pudding mixture turned out great, while the pudding soaked bread sitting above the mix in the baking dish crisped up nicely to give the dish added texture when serving. Speaking of which, we put a nice serving in a big coffee cup, put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, followed by the warm vanilla sauce. Holy smokes was this good, everybody had two servings until the dish was empty. Definitely added to my recipe box.

Delicious!!! I followed the suggestion of sauteeing the sliced apples before adding the apples to the bread. I used 2 tbs of the fat required (I used butter instead of margarine) and cut the brown sugar down by 1/4 of a cup. I used the same pan I cooked the apples in to warm up the milk, sugar and butter. I was afraid the pudding would be way too soggy with all that liquid but it turned out to be perfect.

I made this almost exactly as the recipe states but added some nutmeg and more bread (just 'cos I had a lot of stale leftovers!) and it was truly yummy. My husband is not a big dessert guy but he wolfed down two helpings *before* his dinner so it's a keeper in our house! Thank you so much.

This tasted like a fine resturant dessert. When I served this dessert at the table, I took one bite and got up and made some homade whipped cream to go with it. Everyone raved and fussed about how good it was. Thanks, Ann

Fantastic recipe, very easy and tasty. The vanilla sauce was a bit too greasy so I think next time I'll just use vanilla ice cream as suggested by another reviewer. Thanks for the recipe!

My 21 year old daughter (the pickiest eater in our family) absolutely loves bread pudding, so while I do make it relatively often (and usually use one of my "traditional family recipes"), I am always on the hunt for an "acceptable alternative to the norm" -- and THIS ONE IS IT! I followed the recipe exactly (except that I used salted butter wherever margarine was called for and a 9x9 inch baking dish). My daughter rated it a 22. Both of my sons (who have always teased their sister about her bread pudding "thing") took a second piece before they retreated to whereever it is that they go, and my husband (who can take or leave bread pudding, depending on the day) specifically asked me to pack a LARGE piece with his lunch. Needless to say, I'm ALMOST at the point where I'm willing to replace my "traditional" recipe with this one.

I have tried a lot of bread pudding recipes and this was one of my favorites. I diced the apples rather than slice them. I didn't make any sauce. It still wasn't exceptional or the best ever, but it was definitely good.

I used a TON of bread cubes, so the top was kind of crusty. The vanilla sauce was the perfect thing to to soften it. My roommates and I LOVED it.

This is truely a great recipe. My wife is not a fan of bread puddings and so I usually don't make it. However, we had been given some home made challah that was a little too 'dense'. So, I thought is would be good for breadpudding. It came out great. We will certainly make it again. I actually made it in 6 ramikins. It baked for about 30 minutes and was the perfect consistency, firm, but not hard. I didn't even bother with the vanilla sauce, it was sweet enough without it. I also followed the advice of another reviewer and cooked the apples in the butter/brown sugar mixture. I think it made sure the apples were cooked and flavorable.

Yummy! Skip the vanilla sauce and have some vanilla ice cream instead. I soaked my raisins in a little vanilla and rum to soften them up before I added them (drain them first or its yucky).

This was extremely good - I did dice my apples and it worked out fine. The vanilla sauce is unecessary, I think, it's really rich just the way it is. I think it would be good with a small scoop of ice cream, though.

I was not impressed. It tasted fine but looked bad. I am not sure why you would add the milk and eggs separately because it ended up not combining and effected the final product. The butter was never fully absorbed and the bread never got puffy like I would have liked it to.

This was on of the best bread pudding recipies I have made. The apples really add a lot. I added 1 more egg and increased the vanilla to 1 tsp. Just personal reference. We like it a little moist and love vanilla.

Excellent moist bread pudding. I thought I didn't like bread pudding but found out that is not true. Hubby loved it!. I made the vanilla sauce listed but added a Tbsp. of flour to the sugar mixture before adding the butter and milk. It was not too thin and was a nice addition to the bread pudding.
