Delicious. Made exactly per the recipe, except used canned sweet potatos. Husband who doesn't like sweet potatos had two helpings. 1 year old loved (w/out topping).

My family loves this recipe. I have been making it for the last couple of years and there are never any leftovers during the holidays. I always make another dish for us to have at home. Thank you for the recipe it is now a family tradition for our family...

This was a good idea but mine was way too sweet and I even cut the white sugar down to 1/6 of a cup. It was very rich and I couldn't eat much of it. I will definatley try this agin but I think I will just have plain sweet potatoes on the bottom with nothing added to it and the pecan/brown sugar mix on top.

Amazing!! I had no idea how many sweet potatoes to use seeing that they are all so different and all I could find were the jumbo ones. I ended up using 4 jumbo ones and doubling the recipe for the rest of the ingredients. It filled one 9x13 pan.

I made this per the recipe, except I boiled the potatoes (much faster) and I cut the topping in half. I used marshmallows to top the other half. It looked beautiful but I thought it was way way too sweet. I will try it again but next time I won't mix any sugar in with the potatoes. They already have a nice sweet flavor on their own.

The first year I made this recipe, I was a bit distracted and accidentally stirred the topping mixture in with the potatoes. Needless to say, they were a huge hit! This year when I made them, I made sure the topping was put on the top. Again, these potatoes were fabulous. Either way you make them, you'll really like them. Next year, I'll be using yams rather than sweet potatoes. The flavor isn't an issue for me and the yams have so much more color than sweet potatoes.

EXCELLENT!! I made this for Thanksgiving this year and like others have said, even sweet potato haters ate it up. They even went for seconds! It's a more mature and tasty recipe than the marshmallow variety that is guaranteed to impress. Between this and "Grandma's Green Bean Casserole" from this site, Thanksgiving was declared The Best Ever. I made it as written, no substitutions or alterations needed.

I give this 4 1/2 stars. It tasted great, but cooking the sweet potatoes was a HUGE pain in the butt. At first I followed the directions and just baked them on the pan for 35 minutes and they were no where near done. So I cut them up hoping that would help them cook faster, and I had to cook them for 30 more minutes and they still weren't quite done. I was running late, so I ended up mashing them the best I could, but there were still some firm pieces in the casserole.

Excellent! Was a total hit at Thanksgiving, and as my first time making anything with sweet potatoes. Very sweet, almost good enough for dessert. This will be my go-to recipe whenever a sweet potato casserole is needed!

I made this casserole for the first time over Thanksgiving, and it was devoured. It even prompted my mother-in-law (who is THE cook of the family) to ask me for the recipe, and she will be making this dish for Christmas dinner, instead of her version that she has used for years. Thank you!!! I followed the recipe exactly, except I used 6 potatoes (peeled and then boiled...so easy!), and I also put marshmallows on top of the pecan topping.

I followed this recipe exactly, except I only used 4 sweet potatoes (which I peeled, boiled, then mashed in a Kitchen Aid mixer), and I used 2% milk instead of heavy cream. It did not turn out sweet enough. There was too much sweet potato. I think this would turn out better with more sugar, and less sweet potato. Otherwise, very good!

I don't think I've ever gotten as many compliments for anything I've made than I did when I made this for Thanksgiving. This was EVERYONE'S favorite dish, even my mother who really isn't fond of sweet stuff. This was incredible! I'm glad I didn't opt for the ol' marshmallow sweet potatoes

I've used a very similar recipe as a guide for the last 15 years but somehow lost it. This one is so similar that I used it as a guide this Thanksgiving. I didn't measure accurately (more to taste). It is a hit each and every time!
